In today's post, we will continue to explore the beautiful capital of Ukraine - the city of Kyiv.
Since I temporarily lived in the Podilsky District, near Kontraktova Square (by the way, I have a post about it in my profile). For this reason, the biggest photo I have is from here.

У сьогоднішньому пості ми з вами продовжимо досліджувати прекрасну столицю України - місто Київ.
Так як я тимчасово проживала в Подільському районі, біля Контрактової площі (до речі, пост про неї є у мене в профілі). З цієї причини, найбільше фото в мене саме звідси.
Turning right from Andriyivskyi Uzviz, thus passing the Contract Wheel, we get into calmer, authentic Kyiv streets. Here, too, there is mostly eclectic architecture, but there is also modern architecture. Despite this, there is no terrible dissonance. In general, Kyiv is such a city where modern urban planning echoes with ancient architectural monuments. On one street there is a thousand-year-old church, and next to it, on another street, is a modern office.
Звертаючи направо від Андріївського Узвозу, минаючи тим самим Контрактове колесо, потрапляємо у більш спокійні, автевнтичні київські вулички. Тут теж розташована переважно архітектура часів еклектики, але є й сучасна. Та попри це, якогось жахливого дисонансу немає. Взагалі, Києв - це таке місто, де сучасна урбаністика перекликається зі стародавніми пам'ятками архітектури. На одній вулиці стоїть тисячолітня церква, а поряд, уже на іншій, сучасний офіс.
It is no secret that Kyiv is called the city of churches. Such a name arose not in vain, because the capital of one of the most powerful medieval states - Kyivan Rus, was famous for its magnificent Orthodox shrines. Most of them have been preserved here to this day. In this post, I will not show you the most famous temples of the city, I will do it in separate posts. Today I will just tell you a little about the not the most popular, but also beautiful Kyiv churches
Ні для кого не секрет, що Київ називають містом церков. Така назва виникла не дарма, адже столиця однієї з наймогутніших середньовічних держав - Київської Русі, славилася своїми величними православними святинями. Більшість з них збереглися тут і донині. У цьому дописі я не покажу вам найзнаменитіші храми міста, зроблю це в окремих дописах. Сьогодні лише розкажу трохи про не самі популярні, але теж прекрасні київські церкви.
And the first location is the Church of the Dormition of the Virgin of Pyrohoshcha. Yes, its name is long and complicated, in principle, like many Orthodox monuments.
It is impossible to pass by and not notice this church. It is very ancient, as far back as the 12th century. Historical events that took place in our lands over the centuries influenced its appearance. In the 90s, reconstruction was carried out and now we can observe a neat, beautiful church of the time of Kyivan Rus.
І перша локація - це Церква Успіння Богородиці Пирогощої. Так, назва у неї довга і складна, в принципі, як і в багатьох православних пам'яток.
Неможливо пройти повз та не помітити цю церкву. Вона дуже древня, аж 12 століття. Історичні події, які відбувалися на наших землях протягом століть вплинули на її вигляд. У 90-х роках провели реконструкцію і зараз ми можемо спостерігати охайну, красиву церкву доби Київської Русі.
Another historical location is located not far from the church - Samson's fountain.
Недалеко від церкви розміщена ще одна історична локація - фонтан Самсона.
Even without knowing anything about this cultural object, you understand that it is not simple, but carries historical value. The fountain is built in the Ukrainian Baroque style, but unfortunately, it is not the original look it had a century ago. In general, the history of this fountain is very rich. At the place of "Samson" there was a reservoir for water during the times of Kievan Rus, later, a fountain was built here, but without Samson. In the center stood an angel, and on top was something like a chapel. Already in the Baroque period, Samson, tearing the lion's mouth, appeared in his place.
Навіть не знаючи нічого про даний культурний об'єкт, розумієш, що він не простий, а несе історичну цінність. Фонтан побудований у стилі українського бароко, та на жаль, це не той оригінальний вигляд, який він мав століття тому. Взагалі, історія цього фонтану дуже насичена. На місці "Самсона" за часів Київської Русі був резервуар для води, пізніше, тут побудували уже фонтан, але ще без Самсона. У центрі стояв ангел, а зверху було щось по типу каплички. Уже в бароковий період на його місці з'явився Самсон, що роздирає пащу леву.
In the 1930s, when the Soviet Union destroyed everything Ukrainian, the architectural monument was dismantled. Later, fortunately, the fountain was returned and now we can see a historical monument in our legitimate city, although not in the same form.
У 30-х роках, коли радянський союз знищував усе українське, пам'ятку архітектури було демонтовано. Згодом, на щастя, фонтан повернули і зараз ми можемо бачити історичну пам'ятку на своєму законному місті, хоча вже й не в тому вигляді.

На цьому фото дуже гарно впала тінь, тому я вирішила теж це сфотографувати.
And then I want to show you the streets of this area. They are very comfortable: there are no high-rise buildings pressing on the head, powerful traffic and excessive advertising. Just go and enjoy)
А далі я хочу показати вам вулиці цього району. Вони дуже комфортні: тут немає висоток, що давлять на голову, потужного руху автівок та надлишкогої реклами. Просто ходи і насолоджуйся)
And I also adore the red Kyiv trams. Against the background of the historical landscapes of the city, they look very atmospheric.
А ще я обожнюю червоні київські трамваї. На фоні історичних пейзажів міста вони виглядать ну дуже атмосферно.
And although the coming winter has almost dropped the leaves from the trees, this does not make the landscapes of Kyiv any less beautiful. The city is beautiful in any season and any weather.
