πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ I have a vegan recipe a lot to share with you all - Khmer Saraman Curry. It is very similar to Thai Massaman Curry.

We are like to cook this food when national holidays. It’s from Cambodian Muslims and Cham people. Usually we make it with chicken or beef a lot.

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 2 onions
  • 2 lemongrass stalks
  • 1 small piece turmeric
  • 1 small piece galangal
  • 1/2 big red onion
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 5 dried chilies
  • 2 cinnamon
  • 3 star anise
  • 1 tsp coriander seed
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/8 cups coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp tamarind water
  • 1/3 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Put dried chilies in water 10 minutes after clean it and remove seeds. Crush roasted peanuts lightly. Usually, I put mnay dried chilies, but here not have. Cambodia has big dried chilies so much and not spicy for make anything food.

Cut vegetables

Step 1

Slice and chop ingredients.

Step 2

Put lemongrass, turmeric, galangal, coriander, pepper, dried chilies, 1 star anise, little cinnamon, garlic, red onion and chili powder.

Add 2 tbsp water and grind it very well.

Step 3

Heat oil, add spice paste and stir it.

Step 4

Stir it until aromatic.

Step 5

Put 1 cup coconut milk and stir it.

Step 6

Then put star anise and cinnamon, simmer it a few minutes.

Step 7

Put sweet potatoes, stir it and put salt, sugar, soy sauce, tamarind water, and simmer 5 minutes.

Then put onion stir it.

After put water and simmer a little.

Step 10

Then put roasted peanuts stir and simmer 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes put coconut milk and stir, turn off fire.

This recipe food has so much ingredients but it’s really delicious and a very heavy dish.
