Paragliders taking off from Mam Tor

I wish I could say this is me in the photo but I can't. While out walking, we stopped to see the paragliding at Mam Tor. The pilot is usually in a harness and seat or they lie in a type of pod. They are also crazy!!

Mam Tor is a favourite place to handglide from. It means ‘Mother Hill’. It is also a favourite amongst walkers and visitors. We walked up it last year for the first time. It wasn't as bad as what I thought it would be.

Some of the flying groups offer 'taster day' paragliding and handgliding courses.

There's a part of me that would love to have a go, but I just wouldn't be able to throw myself off the top. I will stay on terra firma for now.

After leaving Mam Tor, we drove past the Cat and Fiddle pub. It is the highest pub in the Peak District. We didn't call in though, I much prefer coffee ...

.... and cake!
