Addiction is something many people are battling with in our world today. It is not been spoken about enough as it ought to be because the increase in certain types of addictions is increasing the rate of some societal vices. Medical News Today describes addiction as an inability to stop using a substance or engaging in a behavior even though it is causing psychological and physical harm.

Addiction is very broad and vast, it transcends beyond excessive alcohol intake, drugs, late nights. An addict is anyone that finds it difficult to stop being a part of a particular activity or thing. Addiction involves too much gambling, working too much without having time to rest, excessive sex, playing too much video games, watching too much movies etc.

I'm pretty sure at the start of this post you may feel you are not into addiction and this post is not for you. But you'd realize you don't have to be into hard drugs or alcohol before you are an addict. In fact, some people are addicted to their phones - they can't go few minutes without pressing their phones. That's addition!

Addiction is that compulsion to engage in a particular activity that is developed overtime having engage in a continuous and repetitive process of these activities. The end result of addictions are not always good if not curbed when it is still at its tender stage. A lot of addicts end up losing their lives, integrity, focus, wealth, health and so on.

It is not quite easy to break away from addictions. It takes taking stand, determination and self control. The process can start by disassociating yourself from addicts like yourself. You have to stay close to people who engage in more productive activities such as exercising, writing, healthy eaters and people who have goals in life. There is a high probability that you will have addicts as close friends since you are one, so it's best to stay away from them and make new good friends. The more you stay with these set of people, the more you see that you won't make progress in your recovery journey.

In order to end your addiction it might be helpful to set a date that you want to stop the addiction and work towards it. You can say to yourself that you want to stop gambling before your next birthday or you want to stop playing excessive video games before next Easter, New Year, Christmas etc. Selecting special dates would trigger a thing in your head that you don't want to disappoint yourself.

Thank you for your time lovelies.
