Usually takes a fair bit of effort to make things work.
Mistakes, unexpected problems, distractions and more can get in the way and sometimes that idea we had maybe is not meant to be for ya don't sweat it, you never know how those experiences will come in handy in the future.

Now lets talk about my current case, so apparently ya boy is not good at maths, I needed to figure out how to make my printed objects the right volume so that later during casting they can all be around the same predesignated weight range.

I do have a bit of experience pouring a few times but only with bismuth 🤣 so this first batch of pours is sort of like a test and experiment to see what I can do and how it all behaves, I already have way more in mind to really spice things up and make things more accessible.

Small batch products are fairly expensive to produce especially in the precious metals space, I am hoping that some of my ideas will be able to change that.

This post is getting way out of hand already so I will just give y'all an overview, my primary focus starting out will be to bring innovation to the open sand casting method.

Right below are some hive rounds I printed for my test, and oh man it seems like the person that made this design doesn't have a printer or never printed it but it gave me lots of trouble I did not notice the slight rim so it would print a large portion in mid air, however I forgot all about that and was thinking I have issues with bed adhesion.

I was fiddling around and even with this design flaw I managed to get it to print not very well though, after I discovered the issue I was able to cut the rim at the bottom to make it not struggle to print in mid air.

But you know I had to make a maths blunder, I thought I got it sorted. I figured out the theoretical volume I needed printed and scaled the model down to fit my desired weight.

Here is exhibit L below

So the one on the right with the little hive bitty on top was supposed to be a oz and a half oz 🤣
I was not sure about the oz but when the half came out I was like something is not right for sure.

I was trying to use 2 dimensional rules in the 3 dimensional realm and that's not aloud,
to the left seems more on the money as an size of an oz and half oz but time will tell my execution outside the design also will play a large part in that but that's all part of it.

It's getting late and I think I may have to settle even though I am totally not happy with the results below

Perhaps ignorant to the limitation of the printer, I will have to give it back with my other printers but this is just the first test batch even though the aim is always to make something nice.

at the beginning of this you saw a picture of the waste that's trial and error, there is a whole lot more that is not in that picture and right below is a picture of the things I will try to cast with tomorrow, time will tell how well they will fair and out of them how many are going to be successful.

The lady will not be open sand casted the geometry will not allow, she thick ! I got a small casting flask I will have to give a try, I also have almost everything I need for lost wax casting it can do amazing things but it takes a lot more to make it work and has other economical limitations

It's getting late this has gotten too long for 99% of yall I guess this is for the 1%ers 🤣

So wish me good luck, if you have tips suggestions or questions or just wanna talk some shit let me know what is on your mind in the comments below.

  • Invest only what you can afford to lose and be mindful of the potential risks.
