Why is it difficult to trust?

It's another week, thanks @hiveghana for this wonderful question. Trust is something that must be earned, it cannot be forced. The earlier we understand this as humans the more peaceful we will enjoy our existence and pick no offense at anyone. The word trust is golden and expensive, there are times we let it out to the wrong people which in turn costs us dearly than we can ever imagine. The aftermath of trusting the wrong person is sometimes brutal and difficult to recover from but one has to move on if it doesn't go as planned.

People tend to take the trust one has in them for granted, they misuse the opportunity by leaving one in regret and this sometimes makes it difficult to trust such individuals again. The pain from distrust makes it difficult to trust again, due to the trust I had in a friend I went the extra mile for her in times of trouble. Taking a risk for a friend because I trusted her so much left me in regret as in the end she denied me and left me to dance to the harsh tune myself. That's how ungrateful humans can be When people notice you rely so much on them, they take advantage of it not minding the consequences it might tell on you later.

Trusting the wrong person puts one's life in jeopardy, leaving one with a life of regret. The unappreciative nature of humans makes it difficult to trust anyone in our world today. In our society today, people can no longer walk without checking their backs (taking caution) because no one can be trusted. Everyone is trying to build their world, the person you are willing to invite into your world and sacrifice everything for is planning to destroy your world to build his or hers. The act of human betrayal is the biggest reason why it is difficult to trust again.
