Music is an antidote: my all-time favorite song

Music is an antidote, I always emphasize that but many don't believe that probably because it is not from their point of view. Music is food to the soul, an antidote for depression, it is a joy booster and it is a very good means of relaxation. Music helps calm the brain, and also to think straight when bothered. Good music is an eye-opener and it helps in solving life's complicated issues.

Growing up as a child, my father was a lover of music and I grew up listening to blues. This forms my interest in music, especially blues. I listened to other genres such as gospel, afrobeat, and the like but my favorite of all is blues. In my house then, we have albums of different artists who have made an impact on people's lives. Artists such as Celine Dion, the late Whitney Houston, R. Kelly, Bryan Adams, Lionel Richie, and Dolly Parton. Their songs have meaningful lyrics as they think deeply when writing their songs so as not to portray a bad image to society.

When I grew up, I listened to more of their songs and I chose Celine Dion as my favorite artiste, I love her voice and the energy she puts in while singing. I have her album listed on my mobile phone as I take pleasure in listening to her from time to time. Music serves as a solace to me, it helps me in bad times and helps me back on my feet. Music gives me life and it serves as a support system to put me on the right track.

As I grew up, I decided to listen to Afrobeats too and Nigeria is a country blessed with multiple talents. The world is growing at a faster rate and everything seems to be changing rapidly. In our society today, we no longer listen to the lyrics of songs, all we listen to now is the beats, and by so doing we are promoting corrupt songs daily. I choose songs that I listen to, because whatever we listen to as humans forms our mentality. For this reason, I prefer listening to a particular Nigerian singer popularly known as "Barry Jhay". I chose him as my favorite artiste and his songs as my second favorite song because the lyrics in his songs are meaningful and eye-opening.

His songs revolve around life experiences and prayers, this made me choose his songs above any other Afrobeat singers and he sings with a mixture of my local dialect that passes his messages across really well.
