Up, Up, and Away: Memoirs Of My First Airplane Experience

Hello guys, I hope you’re having a great day, I’m having a boring day here also but I hope it gets exciting with time .😅

Where I come from, traveling outside the country is associated with rich or lucky people. Even going to some random places is attributed to who you are and what you have. Unlike other kids from other countries, the only place we kids from Africa go to for vacation is our villages for the Christmas holidays. You only find the rich kids or the half castes going for vacations in Singapore and the likes.

The first time I sat on an airplane in my whole life was last year(2022). Funny enough, at the time I knew I had to travel I didn’t even have a passport. I had to find ways and means to get a passport as fast as I could for the trip. Being the villager that I was then, words can’t explain how excited I was.😂 This might sound funny to you but for a Ghanaian it isn’t. Aside getting my passport, securing a visa was another headache because most embassies were still not granting interviews due to the COVID 19 pandemic but I serve a living God.😂🙏

We were required to take a Covid test a day before our departure and I made sure to get tested. The procedure was really uncomfortable as they had to use a swab in your nose and deep down your throat. I know you just imagined how it felt but that’s the protocol.

Fast forward to the D-day, unlike other people I overslept and my mom had to wake me up and oh, she couldn’t stop complaining because we were running late. I was ready and my dad drove me to the airport. I decided to take some pictures to make a TikTok video like people do but as usual, the video isn’t ready yet.😂

We arrived at the airport at around 6:00am to check in cos our departure was at 10:00am. My dad being the angel that he is took me through all the processes up till the immigration point. I mean I would have known what to do since that was my first time traveling. It was time to board our flight and we made our way to the boarding gate.We then walked through the jetway and on to our flight. I found my seat and luckily for me I got a window seat. I made myself comfortable as I was really exhausted already.

Some minutes later, we were asked to settle down and fasten our seatbelts for takeoff. I was actually scared cos what if something happened or whatever weird stuff I could think of. But then, we took off without any hustle and within minutes we were up in the sky floating through the clouds on our way to Gnassingbe Eyadema International Airport for our transit to John F. Kennedy International Airport. If you haven’t been on an airplane before, now you have because I have taken you on my journey aboard a plane.

Here are some amazing pictures I took from up there in heaven, I hope you like them.😅
