To Live Is To Die

With hardship comes ease and with life comes death. There’s a Ghanaian proverb that says,’ nipa b3y33 bi nanso wan b3y3 ninyinaa’ which means man came to earth for a reason but he couldn’t do everything on this earth. As humans, there’s no way we can do everything on this earth because if only one person was to change the world, what would the others do?

Everyone of us has his own destiny and purpose on this earth. Once that purpose has been fulfilled, you know that your work is done on this earth. Sometime back a friend of mine lost his dad , may his soul rest in peace. Believe me when I tell you the man knew it was his end because he told his kids that he has achieved all that he can on this earth and he’s happy even if he were to die the next minute.

Death has grown to become a normal thing in our lives these days. Little kids and adults are both losing their lives each day and all we can do is hold on the memories of loved ones we have lost as we wait patiently for our turn. God himself who created us had made it known to us that one day we will have to leave this earth so the earlier we embrace it the better.

Now, let’s look at a situation where I am given the opportunity to choose between living forever and dying at some point. I’m sure you think I’d choose to live forever because there’s so much to enjoy on this earth but sorry to disappoint. I’d prefer to live and die in my right and destined time. There’s so much to enjoy in this life ,that’s a fact but there’s also so much not to enjoy in this life. Life it self is a school and we never really seem to stop learning.

I believe that from the day we are born, our path slowly guides us to fulfill our destiny on earth. Everyone is on earth for a reason, it’s more like we are all visitors and once our visit is over we would have to leave. Living forever is a good thing and there’s no denying that. If we were all to live forever that is going to mean that there will be no more deaths which means no more sorrows and heartbreaks. But also, that would mean the world would be overpopulated. So, what do we do in a situation like this?

I’ve seen people grow so old to the extend that they just wish to die so all their suffering would end. I’m not one to depend so much on others and living forever is going to mean that I’m eventually going to grow old and need people to help me with basic stuff. Just thinking about that makes me not want to live forever. Overall, once my duty is done here on earth, I’d wish to take my leave for someone else to experience the beauty of the earth.
