Social media platforms have become an essential aspect of our lives in the current digital era. On these social media platforms, users discuss nearly every aspect of their lives, including personal as well as professional achievements. As a result, social media accounts are now a useful informational resource for companies trying to expand the staff they hire.

In these present times , a lot of companies use social media profiles to know more about an applicant ; their personality, their interests, passion, and their online character throughout the hiring process. Companies believe they can know more about an applicant than what is being written on their CV by going through their social media pages.

There are benefits of using social media profiles during a hiring process in a company. One of the major benefits is that it provides a more greater view of this applicants. Like i said earlier companies can know a lot about an applicants through their social media accounts, in addition to CV's and interviews.

These social media profiles allow the company to get to know a lot about an applicant's online identity, the way they communicate, and what interest them more. This information can help a lot of companies in knowing if an applicant has the characteristics the company is looking for in a new worker as well as whether they are a suitable fit to work in that company.

However, there are drawbacks to using social media profiles in the hiring process. First and foremost, privacy is a major concern. Although social media profiles are publicly accessible generally, not all applicants want their personal information to be known to potential companies.

Sometimes Applicants may feel uncomfortable about a company invading into his/her private life and may decide not to apply to such companies. Another drawback is that some applicants could create a false online identity, making it difficult and challenging for these companies to know the difference between real and fake profiles.

Potential discrimination is another issue. Companies could mistakenly discriminate an applicants based on their details about their personal preferences; sexual preference, gender, or race. This could possibly result in an improper hiring procedures and may cause legal problems for the company in question.

I have seen a A lot of companies nevertheless decide to use social media profiles in their hiring process in spite of these disadvantages and drawbacks. Assessing the advantages and disadvantages and applying careful measures, companies may likely use social media profiles to make good hiring choices

Businesses should act morally and openly if they decide to use social media profiles in their hiring procedures.
Before the start of this hiring process, it is proper for Companies to inform their applicants that their social media accounts will be checked and that only important things will be used during the hiring process. Additionally, they must prevent themselves from drawing conclusions about applicants only based on their social media activity and instead concentrate on the knowledge and expertise needed for the role.

These companies should teach their hiring managers not to conclude their decisions on applicants personal posts or information, but rather to concentrate on the important and useful information.
To reduce bias in the hiring process, the companies should also use the same assessment standards and procedure for every applicants.

In my own opinion, i would say it is a good thing to use social media profiles during the hiring process, but it needs to be done caution and careful consideration.
