My covenant with Rice.

The importance of food can't be quantified, it's one of the most important things for every human. We eat to stay healthy physically and mentally, there is no how we can go about our daily duties with food since we derive energy from what we eat. Eating is important but can still be done wrongly which is why we must eat healthy food and also develop a healthy eating habit.

It's hard for me to choose my favourite food because I love food and there are varieties of food that I can't resist. Don't mind my look, I enjoy and love eating. I thought about my favourite food and settled for rice and plantain among all.

I have seen people say that they get tired of rice easily and I don't understand how when there are numerous ways in which I can prepare my rice. There is Jollof, Fried, Village rice, Wankee, Ofada rice, Coconut rice and a few others so it's impossible for me to get tired of rice.

Everyone will agree with me that rice is one of the very popular foods globally and here in Nigeria, we eat it almost every day. A household can't go a few days without rice, it's like a routine or should call it tradition?


Breakfast

My love for rice started quite a long time ago according to the story my parents told me. As a kid, I could eat rice three times a day and other food didn't have any importance to me so my parent always made something different about the food so that I won't be repeating the same meal every day.

There was a time I lived with my grandma, she was pissed that my parents didn't raise me properly because I barely ate what she prepared. She had to always prepare rice, my family thought it was every child's favourite food until I started growing and still love rice.

Although I don't eat it three times a day but a day wouldn't end without it. It's more satisfying than other meals and very easy to prepare. There is a restaurant I visit and they usually don't ask what I want anymore because they know it will be rice, they can ask if I want fish or beef but they are sure it will be rice.

People are fond of saying Rice is just carbohydrate and doesn't do much for the body but they are wrong because carbohydrates give us the energy we need to go around with our daily activities. Rice has vitamins and does a lot for my body because I don't eat it ordinarily. There are times I use vegetables, fish or meat and these are also great sources of vitamins. For me, rice is the food I consume in high quantity at a go. Ten morsels of fufu will fill my belly immediately, I get easily tired with it but with rice, I just have to keep eating because it doesn't bore me eating it.

I love rice and can tell that there are lots of rice lovers on the platform as well.
