Yes, I am guilty!

Court in session!

Today's court proceedings is for #hiveghana versus Beckyroyal. All rise as we welcome the honourable Judge.

Judge: You may all be seated. Let's hear the plaintiff with the opening remark.

Plaintiff: Thank you your honour. We are gathered here today to determine if the defendant is guilty or not guilty. Your honour, several complaints have been levied against the defendant on her continuous slackness and procastination of duties expected of her.

She has constantly indulged in pleasures that I can term as not being worthwhile and time consuming, resulting in a lakackadiasical front to her main priorities. Your honour, this cannot go on. The sanity of morality and diligence are at stake and these must be saved. I rest for now.

Judge: Does the defendant have anything to say to this this court in view of the plaintiff's remarks. What do you plead to allthe accusations spelled out before this honourable court, guilty or not guilty?

Defendant: I plead guilty your honour. It is true that I regularly indulge in pleasures that steal away my time and presence from doing other weightier matters. I have tried and teied to stop them your honour, but I can't seem to gain mastery over these pleasures.

The first guilty pleasure is eating junk late at night. I know very well that it is bad eating lifestyle to indulge in sugary foods so late at night but I still do even with the risk of constipation or diabetes, I just don't care. I derive joy munching on some chips, chinchin or bread with a bottle of Coca-Cola or fanta to top it up most nights. I throw caution to the wind and go on munching away to my heart's content even as late as 1am.

Second guilty pleasure is reading online romance novels. Your honour, I can't seem to be able ti drop my phone once I come across an interesting story plot. The urge to get to the bottom of the mystery keeps my eyes glued to the screen of my phone irrespective of what I am doing. The only time my eyes gets removed from my screen is when I have to use the loo and in a jiffy, I'm back to reading again. At my place of work, when I don't have a class to lecture, I would always be seen with my phone reading. My mind tells me that I could do other things like marking notes, class assessments and assignments with that time but I don't heed it and the next day, I see that I have heap of books to mark and append..but who can I blame but me.

The third guilty pleasure is binge-watching movies. This is usually on a weekend when I don't have to go to work. Binge-watching movies keeps me indoors from morning till night and I hardly do anything meaningful except to eat of course. Do you know how addictive k-drama series are?. My chores are abandoned for the little ones in the house. I'm sure if they could, they would spank me very well. Too bad I'm the older one so they can't dare to try it, hehe.

So yes, I am guilty of indulging myself in pleaaures that tend to eat up my time and cause me to procastinate on some things plus I hardly have a social life due to these guilty pleasures, as they are always time consuming but I can't help it.

Judge: Having listened to both sides and hearing the defendants honest plea of being guilty. I hereby sentence the defendant to ninety days of less screen time and phone use and no more k-drama series for the whole year. Court is adjourned!

This is my response to week #44 prompt for @hiveghana #weekkyengagement.

Thank you all for reading.. shalom
