Evening Run - Testing my knee

I just finished a 5.118km running that lasted about 0hh:27mm:53ss !

Well, almost 2 weeks without a run... For once I have semi-valid reasons. First of all, my dog is recovering from surgery, and I couldn't, or at least didn't want to leave her alone for too long. Secondly, like I mentioned after my last run, my knee has been bothering me. I pushed through the pain during last run and maybe that wasn't such a good idea. I guess I've been dealing with mild stomach issues for the past couple of weeks as well. Nothing major, but still enough to really weigh me down. So anyways, not ideal for my last minute training before the Detroit half marathon in now exactly 10 days. So on Tuesday, in spite of the heat (after a few really nice weeks with cooler weather, that was kind of a shock!), I decided to test again the knee. Just a short run, about 5k. Good news is that it wasn't as bad as I thought. A bit painful, but less than last run, and I don't think it really affected my running.
As for the run itself, nothing spectacular really. It started okay and quickly slowed down. I was actually getting into the groove near the end, albeit a very slow one, and I could have run longer for sure, but I didn't want to overdo it, it was just a test after all. Plus, I started after the sunset, even later than usual. About half way, it was already quite dark, and fully dark before the end.

Clearly, I am not so confident anymore now for the half marathon. Starting my training so close to it, I couldn't afford any break like that. On Friday hopefully, I can try a slightly longer run and see how the knee holds. We'll see what happens after that.

Keep Exhausting!
