Description from Strava:

Today in the afternoon my wife and I visited a local shoe store specialising in three brands. Ugg, Teva, Hoka. A strange combination indeed.

I was searching for a new pair of Teva sandals. The current one is more than ten years old and needs replacement.

They didn't have the size of the model that I was looking for. It's the end of the season and they'll get a new shipment in May next year.

Seizing an opportunity I took a try-out pair of Hoka running shoes. Clifton 8 model. They are mine to play with until Monday.

On our way home we stopped at the local shoe repair shop where I left the old Teva sandals. Tomorrow they'll be better than the new ones.

OK, back to Hoka shoes. I went for a run in them, of course. Flat, on asphalt, relatively fast pace.

What was my first impression? That they are soft, too soft. I am not used to running in such soft shoes.

Particularly under the heel, it felt like there is a hole. The shoes force you to lean forward and land on your forefeet more.

Later during the run, I probably adjusted my posture, and finger pads started to tickle. There was a slight burning sensation.

After nine kilometres my first run in Cliftons was over. I wonder if in the next few days there will be further adjustments while running in these shoes.

Are they good, do they bring any energy-saving benefits, and will I use them regularly? It's too early to tell. Yes, they are fast. Yet, they are terribly soft.
