South Bank parkrun with expected and unexpected mates

The joyful exploration of parkruns in South East Queensland continues!

While South Bank parkrun was a repeat for both Brad and I, it was another new one for my friend Stacey. It's become a great, new, fun game dreaming up where to take her each weekend.

South Bank is on the southern bank of the Brisbane River and essentially part of the CBD. Thus, unlike most parkruns we go to, there were heaps of people and heaps of tall buildings around and heaps of activity from the general public.

Brad and I both felt like it was fun to be in the city for a change and made mental plans to do it more often. South Bank may well become one of the parkruns we repeat semi-regularly.

Here are some details, in case you're interested!

Run time: 29:20 🙌
New course PB? ☑️
Weather: Mild winter's day with lots of sunshine 🌞
Number of parkrunners/walkers: 416 👫👬👭
Course: Convoluted! 😅 Through the botanic gardens.
parkruns I've now run/walked: 184 🏃‍♀️
Number of volunteers needed to make this event happen today: 22 😲
How I'm feeling now: Alive and thriving 😉

We also ran into some interstate parkrun friends who also love "touristing" (as it's known in parkrun circles). In fact, Brendan likes it so much there's an entire club named after him! Having a coffee post-parkrun with people who enjoy travelling to different parkruns as much as we do definitely makes for fun conversations 😁
