More about Trenton Lundy:
They say behind every strong man is an even stronger woman, and for Trenton Lundy, thatâs more than true. For he had not one but two women who guided him towards music and pushed him to be his funky self; his grandmother and mother. Today this Ohio-based funk multi-instrumentalist is celebrating his 2020 release, âMr. ChopChopâ and looking ahead to whatâs next.
Born in the small town of Piqua, Ohio Trenton spent much of his childhood alongside his grandmother. Watching her play the piano as he sat attentively are some of his favorite memories as that was the foundation where his love of music began. Learning to play by ear thanks to his grandmother, Trenton took the next step in his musical journey and sang in the church choir for a handful of years until he was 12-years-old.
Once in high school, he picked up the drums and joined the marching band. From there he learned guitar, bass, and mastered the keyboard. All of that led him to perform in bands at his church until 2015. The following year he notes he was blessed with his own studio equipment.
From that point on, he was able to focus on what he wanted to do and that was to be his funky self. It didnât take long for Trenton Lundy to start getting music out after that. From holiday music that captured his artistry in songs like âThe Funky Drummer Boyâ and âA Funky Holy Nightâ to all-year-round tracks such as âGood Gawd (Bass Remix)â and âChickengreaze 2.0,â heâs done it all and continues to with his 2020 release, âMr. ChopChop.â
âMr.ChopChopâ features one more than a bakerâs dozen of tracks that offer progressive, rhythmic pieces that inspire a lively experience. Songs like âAwakenâ have a signature funk-soul, âDonât Ever Donât Stopâ delivers a modern funky feel. Throughout, each song continues to elevate the record while creating a joyous audible environment.
Throughout it, all his mother, an inspiration from the start, has been rooting Trenton Lundy on. His biggest fan and encouragement as heâs taken big strides in his career thus far. From playing a myriad of stages across Ohio including Jimmyâs Ladder, Pack The Pantry, and multiple HomeGrown Talent Competitions to winning a variety of accolades that include Musicoinâs Artist of the Year in 2019, Droobleâs Artist of the Day twice, and having his story featured in 2020âs âPrince The Day I Was There.â
Trenton Lundy started out trying to imitate his grandmother on the piano and along the way, he learned a multitude of instruments, built up a great catalog of music he wrote, recorded, composed, arranged, and mastered by himself - including 2020âs âMr. ChopChopâ - and now heâs focusing on continuing to work on his craft and skills while creating even more music for those who want to get funky around the world.
