What can you say about this one, eh? This is an original 1971 Ram album that my dad gave me this weekend...and it's a classic. Where to start with this one? Well, some history for me.

Some may suggest this isn't even the real Paul McCartney (hopefully you have no idea what I'm talking about at this point), but this album is definitely his most "Beatle" solo album. My brother and I loved this album growing up. The sound is very "home studio" esque; the melodies are spot on, and though we slip into Macca lyrics here and then, most tracks are absolutely solid.

Most would be familiar with Uncle Albert from radio play, but the real treasures on this one are Ram On, Too Many People, Dear Boy, and The Back Seat of My Car. Even Smile Away and Eat at Home sound like something that could have been on The White Album 2.0.

I could never understand the press regarding this album. I have always thought this is a brilliant set, and the most Beatles sounding of his solo work. I think it's much better than Band on the Run, but this album has never been as accepted as that record. I don't get it. Over the years, it's been ripped on by many music critics...yet I always told folks to check it out. Ignore the critics and dig in if this is a style of music you enjoy...the critics don't know what they are talking about.

Now, it's come back in style. The critics rejoice...well, welcome to 1971, my friends. It's nice to see this one finally get the recognition it deserves.

So check this one out. If you are a Beatle fan, Macca fan, Billy Shepherd fan, or whatever...you will not be disappointed. Definitely start with Dear Boy and go from there if you are checking it out on YouTube. The harmonies are up there with the Beach Boys, and I think it's a much better tribute to them than Back in the USSR. OF course, this is just my opinion, but I think it's worth a listen. And thanks dad! Hattie and I get to enjoy this one going forward...it's the little things in life, you know? Thanks for checking this one out! #musicforlife ...I agree!
