A wise man once said, those who point the finger have three fingers pointing back at them! Is it just me or do we seem to judge more quickly and more intensely than ever before. Not only that but these days we seems to do so based on very biased or incomplete information. What I have noticed, especially recently, is that most judgements are also linked to quite a strong emotion of anger or other similar feelings. Most people who are quick to judge also seem to do so without making a sincere effort to learn the truth. Its very easy of course to do this, especially when stories are written with sole aim to illicit an emotional response! This trend has been on the rise dramatically in the past few years, particularly when people can earn significant money by posting a story that is false but illicit a lot of clicks and attention. This week we delve a little deeper into.. JUDGEMENT!

The question this week is very simply WHY do we judge. I’ve seen some very well intentioned people get torn apart by our media, and by the general public. I think some of us judge based on a narrative that we are told by the media, which is often a very biased account of events. Some of us may judge based on our own experiences and wounding. For example if we have been physically abused and hear about someone else who has been accused of the same, we may judge them very quickly even without any evidence.

Sometimes it feels like our world and our deepest connections are being torn apart by judgement. We may throw away years of friendships, or even a partner based on our own perceptions. With this in mind it may be prudent to ask what value judgement brings to our lives. How does judging another help us, if indeed it helps at all.

So i invite you to share about judgement! What it means to you. How do you judge others? Do you find you are often judgemental about other people? What yardstick do you use? How to you hold these judgements? Do you tell others directly what you think? DO you tell everyone except the person you judge how you feel? Do you tell no one at all and just keep it inside? Do you judge yourself more than others? What ever you have to say about judgement we want to hear about it! Please share a personal story or just your own feelings and ideas on the topic.

I believe we need to learn to come together and balance our judgement with compassion, understanding, and truth. When we can do this i believe we can have righteous judgement, however im not sure i have seen much of it lately.. Perhaps you do.. i cant wait to see what you all have to say!
