Three Tune Tuesday: Music City!

In honor of the fact that just about a year ago today my wife and I were spending Spring Break in Nashville, TN, I decided to give you some gems from the Music City for this #threetunetuesday post.

Three Tune Tuesday was started by @ablaze and anyone can participate by using that tag or #ttt and sharing three songs.

This past trip to Nashville was the third time @mrsbozz and I have visited there. It seems no matter how many times we go, we always find ourselves at Layla's Bar downtown on Broadway. It's one of the hippest places and is always packed at night.

Dixieland Delight is one of those early 80's country songs that pretty much everyone knows the words to and if a cover band like the one in the opening photo plays it, the whole bar will be singing along.

In fact, in the 3 to 6 hours (I honestly don't remember) we spent at Layla's on this night, the cover band played it twice! I don't know if they just saw how much the crowd liked it or they were so drunk/high that they accidentally played it twice. I don't think anyone cared honestly.

It's just a really great song with a good hook and some fiddles and a lot of toe tapping country awesomeness.

If you have never heard the song before give it a listen. Unless you absolutely hate country music, I think you will dig it. If you do hate country music, you may want to just skip reading the rest of this, give me the upvote, and move on because this post is all about country music.

Drake White is an artist that my wife and I become quite fond of after hearing the song above "Makin' Me Look Good Again". There is something about his gravely voice that is really cool. Plus it's just a really great song.

When I saw he was going to be at the Opry one of the nights we were there, I knew that we had to go see him. It was pretty much a given that we were going to visit the Opry anyway, but I had to choose a night to go and Drake is what determined that.

He put on a really great show. Usually at the Opry the singers only get to sing about three or four songs because there are so many performers in one night. It was still totally worth it. We didn't know he had some kind of accident a while ago, but he seems to be recovering well and he still sounded great.

This was probably one of the highlights of our last trip to Nashville. If you are one of the people who don't like country music that I mentioned above, hopefully you still stuck around because this song is more bluesy than country and you might actually dig it.

Finally, the last act of the night at the Opry was Chris Janson. He has a bunch of songs that are hits, but I decided to share this one because it is probably one of my favorites. "Done" is just a really great song with a wonderful message that I think all of us can relate to if we have someone special in our lives.

I have to admit, when we went to the Opry that night we were more excited about seeing Drake than we were about seeing Chris, but he actually put on a heck of a show. There was a point where he brought his young son onto the stage for his Opry debut. I should also mention that Janson is also a very accomplished harmonica player, so we got to hear some pretty awesome harmonica tunes too.

Our trip to Nashville last year was so amazing that it made it hard to pick just three songs to share with you for Three Tune Tuesday.

If you ever get the chance to go to Nashville, I highly recommend it. It's a pretty cool town. My dream would be to have a condo there so I can visit whenever I want. I just need a co uople more bull runs and I might get there!
