Taking A Timeout To Rest

Most times, people get so engrossed with their work that they feel that without them the work will not be done. Well, just to remind you, if anything happens to your health in the cause of the discharge of your work, you will be surprised how easy it is for someone else to replace you and they may even perform better because they will come in with reserved energy. This is why resting is not a choice.

If you have observed your productivity during the morning hours to the day when your strength has been renewed and later the day when you have expended your energy, you will agree with me that productivity tends to decrease as you expend physical energy. One way to renew both your physical and mental energy is by taking a rest.

Employees have understood this fact and that is why they normally give their workers some times (as leave) to rest, not because they love to see them leave but because they know they will be better at the job when they come back and they obviously need you better. You do not have to wait until your body breaks down for you to see a need to rest, the rest should prevent the breakdown and not the other way round.

The truth is, if you refuse to take a willing rest for yourself even when you are tired, you may be put to rest if you finally break down. You need to understand that no human, not even you, is perfectly irreplaceable, so do not see yourself as the grand commander of the whole world.

Imagine using your mobile device for days without allowing it to rest and without even recharging it, what do you think will become the fate of the device after the extensive usage? Obviously, the functionality will be affected and it may break down. This is exactly what happens to your physical and mental functionalities if you refuse to take a rest.

One thing about not taking rest is that you cannot cheat the format and pattern of nature. If you skip rest, it will still wait for you in the neatest future and you must pay the debt you owe to nature, so why not pay it now willingly so you will not have to be forced to pay it later in the future.

Before you put in your entire spirit into something, ask yourself if it will be worth it. The truth is, your work may not stick with you when you get old and lonely, but your family will stick around, so try to take timeout and rest with them. Always remember that rest is not an act that is reserved for the weak but an act to renew one's strength.
