The demand for entrepreneurs with great smart ideas is forever on a great rise, the market place needs people who are smart enough to think out of the box and act smart instead of those who are just interested with competing in an already filled market place.
This morning I walked past three different small business owners who were selling the same thing and they all had their stores closely attached to one another, I figured out that a lot of small business owners are highly interested in getting engaged in unhealthy competition. Sometimes on the basis of jealousy, new entrepreneurs start up a similar business pattern with their neighbours which is not a healthy reason to get into business.
In the area where I stay it appears people are more interested in buying food items and then we have a lot of people who go into the business of selling food which might be a good idea but when studied carefully one will realize that these group of food sellers could do better by selling the food items in different ways but they all just choose to follow the same pattern which is making all of them make less sales.
Some business competition is a good one but there are some type of competition that are unhealthy on all grounds, this location has made me see people who break off long term relationships just because of the little profit they will be making from an intending business which does not just sit well with me, let me quickly give you an example of two close friends, one of them was a business woman while the other was a stay home Mum the one who was a business woman comfortably told her friend about everything in her business which also includes business secrets, the woman who was a house wife leased out a portion of her house to her friend to run her business and this even made their friendship become stronger and the other friend had her business getting better.
On a faithful Saturday morning, the business woman received a notice to leave the premises because her friend wanted to make use of the building, she tried pleading with her friend to give her a little time to get a new place but the friend was not interested in anything that was said. She was however lucky to find a vacant building very close to her so she easily moved into the place after paying the rent, only to discover two days later that her friend had started the same business with her.
She was more than shocked after she realized this, the friendship of so many years got destroyed because one friend felt her friend was making a lot of profit that she did not want her to enjoy alone, the competition became unhealthy also because they practically tried to ruin each other’s business just to win over more customers.
It is normal for competition to occur in business but I strongly believe that some competitions are just completely unhealthy, this full time house wife could have chosen a different line of business and this will make her friend support her with the entrepreneurial knowledge she has, which will also mend their friendship even better but she decided to do things differently and of course make herself an enemy to a one time friend.
Although there are various opinions about this, but I just think that good relationships should not be ruined for the sake of making some extra cash.
