At this point, we are all out of the shock of a pandemic and we are starting to live with it and find solutions to our health problem so we don't become victims who looses their lives to the pandemic. The pandemic ravaged the entire world and I will say with no doubt that it isn't going to be an easy to forget event at all. The pandemic created an economic standstill, great job loss and serious financial wreck for a lot of people. Just as the world is suffering over this pandemic, the world as a whole and so many pharmaceutical companies are trying to get a vaccine. Although, the vaccine will bring a stop to the Covid-19 pandemic and will bring normality to a reasonable extent but we need to know that it will cost money and at the same time it will rake in money for a few people.
Let's take a look at previous vaccines. The Flu vaccine cost $67/dose and the Polio vaccine cost between $1-$2 per dose source but the Covid-19 vaccine will be within the range of $30 -$40 per dosesource. I have heard a lot of companies saying they will not be charging any penny as profit for the vaccine to 2nd and 3rd world countries and even though big media houses like the CNN and the BCC are watching closely, one thing that they won't want is a government looking good over their greed.
The truth remains that i can't really trust that this companies will not still make profit from it as not all of them have promised not to sell the vaccine for profit. A lot of billionaires have pledged to make the vaccine cheaper in third world countries so we have to look at 1st world countries and 2nd world countries.
In the production of any vaccine, the mot expensive thing is the research. Vaccines are very cheap and so when pharma sells vaccine at any price, they are said to be making excessive money from them. So if Pharmaceutical companies decide to take into profit for this vaccine, they will be making a lot of profit in Billions but will they make profit over Covid-19 vaccine?
