Shorter but harder seasons

Just like most products based on the tokenisation of activities, splinterlands perform changes that reduce the supply/increases scarcity of their token.

In this case, the tokens in question are both NFT and DEC. The recent move to reduce supply, of sorts, led to the reduction of the length of the season.

From a player's perspective, this move adds another layer of interest into the game. The collection power change already made it infinitely more difficult to rise up the ranks and this new addition will test players even more.

In the not so distant past, each season was like 15 days and 6 hours but at the start of this season, it changed to a little over 10days I believe.

The change basically means that players now have less amount of time to climb up the ranks. Concurrently, it means that players also have less amount of time to accumulate rewards in form of NFTs and DEC per season.

From a player's perspective, I think the battles have become more fun and it has also increased the stakes. I feel a bit more pressure to win my games and rise up the ranks faster, thus leading to more battles per season.

I think it will be fascinating to see how this will affect the quantity of participation. I think the fact that the season was reduced by 2 days or so would increase the amount of participation and time spent on the game.

I like the fact that the game doesn't remain the same, and players have to adapt on the fly. I think that adds an extra dynamic to the game and keeps you on your toes. For bot operators, these slight changes will also affect the codes and stuff they use.

Generally speaking though, I think the changes in the game have improved the game. I'm also looking forward to the expansion and the mini-game that is to come in the near future.
