Philippine Islands #3: Sillon Island, Sta. Fe, Bantayan, Cebu

If in case it wasn't still obvious by now, I'm uploading summer photos under this series. This quarantine has made miss a lot about travelling and going to the beach. If there was no COVID-19 and quarantine, I might have gone to another remote island in the Philippines. For now, let me share another summer photos from a different island here in the Philippines.

I told you there are a lot of "virgin islands" in the Philippines and apparently, this next island in feature is also called Virgin Island. I still have to figure out how many Virgin Islands are there and I want to go to each one of them.

Hello Hiveians!

I'm loving this new series! The first two entries were featured by @pinmapple and the support has been overwhelming. Thank you so much for those who showed some love! If you haven't checked out yet the first two entries, you can find them here:

The Philippines is composed of 7,641 islands and we are still on the third island. This is why this series is so promising, but challenging at the same time. I'm excited to see what island should I feature next! For now, let's talk about this featured island.

Be prepared for there will be a lot of summer photos ahead.

Third Island: Sillon Island in Sta. Fe, Bantayan, Cebu

Bantayan Island is one of the top destinations of Cebu. With its white sand beaches and eco-tourism sites, it has become a summer destination for both local and international travellers. One of the known islands near Bantayan is Sillon Island where it is often offered as part of an island hopping experience.

Sillon Island is also called Virgin Island by the locals even if it's not so "virgin" anymore because a lot of people have visited the area. Apparently, the island goes by a lot of names. Some often referred to it as Hilantagaan Diot or Pulo Diyot, while others call it Silion which is a little bit confusing.

Sillon Island is located east of Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island and northwest of Hilantagaan Island. Since it is smaller than Hilantagaan Island, it might be the reason why it is also called Hilantagaan Diot.

When you visit the island, expect no less than a crystal clear water and a very wide white sand beach. Even at the port in Sta. Fe, the water is already tempting that is dubbed as the cleanest port in Cebu. The moment that you step out of the boat, you would want to plunge in the water directly.

Due to its popularity, it is expected that the amenities and food are not so cheap. But I wouldn't mind to a little premium for that place though. It also doesn't mean you can't enjoy the place even if you're on a tight budget. You can just pay for the boat and entrance fee and then you can already stroll around or enjoy the beach. Other activities such as cliff jumping is located on the other side of the island.

Home is where the beach is. Would you agree?

Of course I didn't miss to have some photos immediately after our boat docked at the beach. Even when it was in a high noon, I didn't mind the sun exposure just to have some photos.

What happens in Virgin Island stays in Virgin Island? That's highly doubtful.

Cottages are available for rent even those that are floating in the sea.

If you want some peace and quiet, the other side of the island can give you that. Less people often visit the other side because some are contented with that one facing Bantayan. The other side has cliff jumping, but other than that, no one really cares about the beach there.

Enjoying the breeze while on hammock under the coconut trees is heaven! Now I wanted to go back there!
