Oxygen (2021) movie review

Greetings OCD!

I rarely write movie reviews, but this is awesome.

Liz wakes up in a hibernation capsule. As soon as she wakes up, she realize that her Oxygen started to running out, and she have to fight for her life. Will she successfully survive?

Rating:
Based on the trailer, I expected something very dark, almost horror movie. But no. This was a very pleasant disappointment. However I was not wrong that it is psychically very overwhelming, but really gripping movie.

I was in shock during the whole movie as to whether she will survive or not. Because this is not a typical movie, where you know the complete event after the first minute. In this movie, you cannot be sure about the fate of the character until the last minute of the movie. Always happens something surprising that you would not have expected.

The story probably originates from the overthinking of COVID-19, but its message is really thought-provoking. As I mention there are no little unexpected events in it. One thing is sure, if you watch it, you will not be bored. The performance of Mélanie Laurent is also brilliant, it could even has a chance for an Oscar price.

However, if you are claustrophobic, I do not really recommend, because almost the whole movie is in the capsule. The memories are sometimes uplifting, almost beautiful, sometimes even worse than the capsule.

All in all, I can very much recommend it, maybe the best movie of this year so far.
