It's My Friend's Birthday Soon, So I Painted Her... <3

More than 10 years ago, I met a virtual friend who I got along with really well. She's half Filipino and half Japanese living in Canada. We were crazy about Japanese rock bands and visual kei bands that time when we first met. And from then, we became really good friends.

We haven't really met in person until now because when she came home in the Philippines, she spent time in her hometown which is very far from my place. She also didn't stay long in the Philippines that time. Despite that, we continue our communication.

We aren't as crazy as we were years back, but our bond still remained. She's like a sister to me and I really appreciate her for being a part of my life. Hopefully, we'd get to meet each other in person.

Her birthday is coming soon, so what I did was make a painting for her. Here it is!

I'm wearing my headphones because I'm waiting for my student... I guess she's absent. lol

I started making this piece of art this afternoon. I used my watercolor pad and pencil to sketch first. I used her picture as a reference. Here's the process. :)

It's just light sketching and then I started coloring the facial features. It's semi-realistic type of art. :)

First stage is done! ^^ And since I used watercolor pencils in coloring this artwork, I decided to blend them with water. So, I took out my brushes (so excited to use them for the first time... thanks bff!) and also some water. I set it aside for a bit because I had some classes and would work on it during my break time from work.

And that's it! I really had fun creating this piece. I hope she'll like it. ^^ Ohh I finished posting! My student was really absent.... I still have two more classes before I call it a day.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this artwork as much as I did when making it. I want to paint again soon! Thanks for checking this post! See you next time! ^^
