Home is a place to go home, especially when you miss a moment with your beloved family while at home, but there are times when a house is not visited again for various reasons such as age or an atmosphere that no longer supports living there. On this occasion I will review some facts about houses in the North Aceh region, namely the traditional houses that we know or call the ACEH TRADITIONAL HOUSE.
Age is the main reason a house must be torn down like a traditional Aceh house that is more than 1 century old must be torn down on the grounds that it is old so it is no longer safe to live in it. This house belonged to my own ancestors, according to the story from the family that this house had been donated by our grandfather to others but now it is only a memory for us today. This house used to be a place to play hide-and-seek when we were little, now what power is like rice has become porridge, sweet memories like dew that falls at dawn. According to the oldest person in our village, the traditional house previously left only one house, namely the waqf house of our ancestors and even according to the news, this house is the oldest house in the area we live in. Maybe now it is no longer the era of houses made of teak wood or other best types of wood, but now it is common for concrete houses with floors to be used as living quarters.
Honestly, it feels really lost to see the house that made our memories disappear in just a few days of its demolition process. If the house was still well maintained, there might not be any demolition, but because the wooden floors were rotten with age, the family took steps to destroy it in anticipation of victims entering the house. After the house is leveled to the ground, there are several things that amaze me, especially the wooden walls that are still good without being aged at all because the walls of the house are made of selected wood in our language known as BAK MURBO which is sturdy overpowering the sturdiness of the best teak wood.
