Unstopable Nature - La Palma Volcano

Yesterday, after several days of expectation, La Palma island volcano in the Spanish Canary islands woke up. The last time it happened was 50 years ago.

Although it was expected and the three closest villages had been evacuated, seeing the images and videos gives you a mix of beauty and sadness. Several earthquakes were detected on the island during the previous days announcing the final phenomenon. This aerial photo lets you see how the whole island is clearly a volcano.

Sunday afternoon the smoke started to spring from the inside of the earth until the lava started to slowly flow downhill.

I feel sorry for the people living close by and losing their properties but there is not too much you can do when mother nature decides to release all its power, at least with today's technology human lives can be saved.

But not everything is sad, a few years ago, another volcano was active underwater, killing all life around, but just a few years later, due to all minerals released, the living underwater ecosystem is even healthier than it was before
