World Championship Cyclo Cross was not the same without spectators

Van Der Poel won, and that's about it

Mathieu Van Der Poel won the World Championship Cyclo Cross in Ostend today, Van Aert was second and Toon Aerts became third. But there is not very much more to say about it. The championship was not very much a championship without the thousands of specators around the track cheering the riders on. It took away 90 % of the tension of the race.

Van Der Poel was behind Van Aert in the first two rounds, there was a gap of around 12 seconds for Van Aert. But then Van Aert had a puncture in his front tire. He lost about 25 seconds and had to trail Van Der Poel when he had his new bike. This would normally be cheered on by the audience, and Van Aert would be back in his wheel in no time because of the spectators. That didn't happen, obviously, and the championship was over in the third round. Sad, but reality.

On to the next one, with spectators!

Sincerely,
