When we talk about leadership, normally people immediately reflect back to something at a Corporate level. If the person has a higher position with authority at job, then it defines the leadership skills of that person.
But ideally leadership is much more to reflect on than, just in the Corporate jobs or people in positions anywhere.
Personally for me a good leader is a mix of personal humility and professionalism and absence of anyone does not give this attribute of leadership a balance.
Leadership skills are seen even in children when they are young, because they clearly stand out in the crowd, or even for people who are not into corporate jobs or at a higher position in any structure, that does not mean that they do not have leadership skills.
How do we identify Leaders?
Sadly the leaders we have today in most of the places have their own self interest in that position and there are very few who really think as a genuine leader for the greater good of all.
A good leader does not carry any ego and they rather operate in a manner where they integrate themselves into the larger goal of building a great community around. This is who I call a true leader!
A leader should be a person who empowers others and is not worried about who gets the credit when the job is done, or that does not have an interest in proving the point that he or she is right or the one who is not bothered about having the last word.
These are the people who can really become great leaders and when we have such leaders in the society the societies, communities and the nations will flourish under such visionary leadership.
But what we see in today's time is completely opposite. People who want to come to a position are only looking at the benefits they will get from that position. The classic examples are the elections. Specially in India, the focus is not on how they will improve but the focus is more on bringing their oppositions down. If one sees the election campaign in India all that is happening in the campaign is finding faults with the oppositions and trying to bring them down. If such is the leadership quality of that person, what do we expect for the Country and for the people from that person.
We can also relate this very well here in Hive. People who have higher Power become self nominated leaders, but very few actually have humility and work in a fair manner. I just experienced this 2 days ago and I was thinking while everyone talks about integrity and all where does it really exist here. Nowhere to be very blunt and honest. I did put up for myself, but then I realized there was no point.
Maximum leaders in the world today are operating for their own personal benefits; may be it monetary or may be it power based. There are very few Leaders who genuinely have the interest for the position they are in. When leaders become unreachable icons they are no longer leaders. We live in the times where most of these leaders only look into the mirror and never look out of the windows, and this where the whole problem starts, because they are so self centered that they forget the purpose for which they are in that position.
I am not sure if genuine leaders will ever be able to stand up also in the times that we are living in, because the so called leaders who at a large exist are so much filled up with corruption that they will never allow a good person to step into the system, else everything will go haywire for them.
Today I write this topic, because with the kind of people we have in the world today in leadership positions it really feels scary because most of them have no humility or that they want to really do good for humanity. All they want is power, then be it at any cost.
