Escribir en un blog siempre ha sido una idea muy atractiva para mi, hace unos años tenia uno donde sólo escribía sobre fotografía, pero la dinámica laboral hizo lo suyo dejándome sin tiempo para hacer eso que tanto me gustaba. Ahora, con un poco de más organización y con muchos otros intereses, me embarcó en la aventura de Hive, un mundo donde espero interactuar con personas y sus historias.
Writing in a blog has always been a very attractive idea for me, a few years ago I had one where I only wrote about photography, but the work dynamics did their thing, leaving me without time to do what I liked so much. Now, with a little more organization and many other interests, I embarked on the adventure of Hive, a world where I hope to interact with people and their stories.
Mi nombre es Karla, soy de Caracas la capital de Venezuela. Mi madre ama la fotografía, nunca lo hizo profesionalmente, pero estoy segura que sería muy buena si lo hubiese intentado, así que crecí con una cámara frente a mi cara, que siempre terminaba en mis manos cuando alguien no prestaba atención. Empecé a pedir cámaras fotográficas para navidad o cumpleaños cuando tenía 5 años de edad, y ya a los 12 tuve mi primera cámara profesional con la que hice un curso en blanco y negro, aprendí conceptos técnicos y todo lo relacionado al laboratorio de revelado y ampliación. Aunque ya tenemos un buen rato en la era digital, sigo amando el formato de 35mm y 120mm, y de vez en cuando revelo en casa.
My name is Karla, I am from Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. My mother loves photography, she never did it professionally, but I'm sure it would be great if she had tried, so I grew up with a camera in front of my face, which always ended up in my hands when someone was not paying attention. I started to order cameras for Christmas or birthdays when I was 5 years old, and at 12 I had my first professional camera with which I did a black and white course, I learned technical concepts and everything related to the development and enlargement laboratory . Although we already have a good time in the digital age, I still love the 35mm and 120mm format, and occasionally I develop at home.
Empecé mi vida universitaria estudiando Letras, en ese momento pensaba que esa era la carrera que me ayudaría a escribir guiones maravillosos porque tenía muy claro que el cine era mi futuro. A pesar que disfrutaba de lo que estaba aprendiendo, sentí que me perdía de cosas específicas de la creación de películas e historia cinematográfica entre otras cosas, así que luego de un par de años me cambié de carrera y culminé mis estudios en Artes Cinematográficas. Luego viaje a Argentina donde hice un posgrado en Análisis y Crítica Cinematográfica. Desde antes de finalizar los estudios, trabajé en dos canales de televisión, hice varias películas como Directora de Fotografía, Asistete de Dirección y Producción. Di clases de fotografía a niños y adultos, trabajé en varios museos, y escribí para una revista cultural. Ahora trabajo por mi cuenta como fotógrafa, guionista y escribiendo sobre cine cuando tengo oportunidad.
I started my university life studying Literature, at that time I thought that this was the career that would help me write wonderful scripts because I was very clear that cinema was my future. Although I enjoyed what I was learning, I felt that I was missing specific things about filmmaking and cinematographic history among other things, so after a couple of years I changed my career and finished my studies in Cinematographic Arts. Then I traveled to Argentina where I did a postgraduate degree in Film Analysis and Criticism. Before finishing my studies, I worked in two television channels, I made several films as Director of Photography, Assistant Director and Production. I taught photography to children and adults, worked in various museums, and wrote for a cultural magazine. Now I work on my own as a photographer, screenwriter and writing about cinema when I get the chance.
Hive me está brindando la oportunidad de compartir con una gran comunidad mis experiencias y conocimientos sobre el arte que me apasiona. Le agradezco infinitamente a mi amiga @tahiaarq por invitarme a entrar en Hive, por guiarme paciente y amorosamente. Espero poder interactuar con personas de todo el mundo, que compartan mi amor por el cine y la fotografía en particular y las artes en general. Aprender acerca de su cultura, costumbres y su mirada sobre cualquier tema que nos pueda interesar. Disfruto todas las manifestaciones artisticas: arquitectura, escultura, pintura, danza, música y literatura; además del teatro, el vestuario, las artesanías, manualidades y hasta videojuegos, así que posiblemente leerás también un poco sobre eso. Definitivamente estoy abierta a sugerencias, a escuchar y agradecer a cada persona que se tome el tiempo de leer lo que tengo para decir.
Hive is giving me the opportunity to share with a great community my experiences and knowledge about the art that I am passionate about. I am infinitely grateful to my friend @tahiaarq for inviting me into Hive, for patiently and lovingly guiding me. I look forward to interacting with people from all over the world, who share my love for film and photography in particular and the arts in general. Learn about their culture, customs and their view on any subject that may interest us. I enjoy all the artistic manifestations: architecture, sculpture, painting, dance, music and literature; in addition to theater, costumes, arts and crafts, and even video games, so you may also read a little about that. I am definitely open to suggestions, to listen and to thank each person who takes the time to read what I have to say.
