Memorial Day was celebrated today in the United States, and after almost three years in this country, today I was finally able to attend one of the parades held to commemorate the date. Well, to be fair, I had never attended because the previous two years it had been cancelled due to the pandemic. Silly me. Well, moving on, I had never paid attention to the celebration, it had always gone unnoticed.But today I was able to attend the parade honoring the fallen and I was able to enjoy a bit of the patriotism and respect paid give to those who died serving the country or those who belonged to the U.S. Navy, but are no longer with us.
Hoy se ha celebrado el Memorial Day en Estados Unidos, y después de casi tres años en este país, hoy por fin he podido asistir a uno de los desfiles que se celebran para conmemorar la fecha. Bueno, para ser justos, nunca había asistido porque los dos años anteriores se había cancelado debido a la pandemia. Qué tonta soy. Pero hoy he podido asistir al desfile en honor a los caídos y he podido disfrutar un poco del patriotismo y el respeto que se rinde a los que murieron sirviendo a la patria o a los que pertenecieron a la Marina de los Estados Unidos, pero que ya no están con nosotros.
For this day the city of Kent organizes a parade that starts downtown and ends at the cemetery. We were stationed at the famous bridge that crosses the Cuyahoga River, right in the center of Kent. There, among children and adults dressed in the colors of the American flag, and carrying their flags, the tribute to the fallen began.

First, a solemn act took place in which the mayor of the city recalled the struggles and sacrifice of the American soldiers; then, the honor guard fired several shots in the air in honor of the fallen; and immediately, the national anthem was sung. A solemn act up to that point.

Then, the parade began, led by the mayor of the city. The children enjoyed the candies and chocolates that were thrown from the floats. Fire trucks, police patrol cars, the school bus and antique cars and motorcycles paraded.
