[ESP-ENG] ¿Por qué y cómo responder a un comentario? || Why and how to respond to a comment?

Icono comentador.png

💬 No seas monosílabo incluso, tampoco trisílabo.
[(NOTA: si eres nuevo no andes repartiendo “likes” a cuanto comentario te dejen.

ENGLISH

Do you love to be thrown flowers, but you don't even smell them? Do you like to be caressed but you don't do it again? Do you love to be praised but you don't even say thank you? You don't do it because you are incapable, because you are selfish or because you don't have time?

Since we started this project, we have received many comments in the articles published from this account. Most of them have been valuable, so much so that we even published a complete post with a selection of comments and placing the authors of these comments as the beneficiaries of 30%. Many of us are clear about the importance of leaving a comment on a publication. This initiative has achieved its objectives: to encourage and teach, both new and not so new to Hive.

What some of us fail to understand is the importance of responding to those comments left behind. @ritch already said so in this comment which he left in a post: "...some people never answer the comments 😀, which does not add value to their blog". We agree that a comment can add value to our post, but it seems that we do not know or forget that a response to a comment adds value to our blog.

I don't want to make this article longer. Taking advantage of the initiative of @theycallmedan, we want to leave you a brief guide on how to respond to the comments you leave in our post. However, first I leave you a list of reasons why to respond to a comment:

Why respond to a comment?

✔️ Education. Imagine you say "I love you" to your partner, and she doesn't respond. One: she is speechless with emotion, or two: she doesn't feel the same way and doesn't know what to say. And even though in a case like that polite being does not apply, in the case of a comment, praise, thanks or even criticism it will always be well seen to respond. Do they praise you? They thank you? Do they criticize you? Thank you, defend yourself or debate, whatever, but respond.
✔️ Show humility. You can be polite and arrogant at the same time. It's not the idea, but it can be taken as valid, at least you responded. However, the ideal would be to be polite and simple. Let your response convey humility and gratitude for that person who took the time to comment, vote and even reblog your post.
✔️ Professionalism. Whether the reason you publish on Hive or some other platform, when we decide to do so we are practicing a profession: blogger. Let's publish about our services, let's do it for the love of art or just for fun, the more you answer the comments they leave you, the more professional you will look and that will make you gain the respect and admiration of your readers.
✔️ Engagement to Hive. Did someone take the time to make community in Hive and leave you a comment? Perfect, follow the wave and answer it. That's also part of the engagement we promote at Hive. In fact, go ahead and visit a post from the person who commented on it and do the same.
✔️ Reward. Yes, again the dirty money. But it's true, there are answers to comments that are valued by the author of the main comment. That is, you win for the vote he left you in your post father (because if he comments, it is very likely that he has voted for you) and you win for the comment you leave him in response to his comment (P.S.: as long as we keep having in @thecommentator the trailer with the vote of @theycallmedan, we will be voting some answers to comments).
✔️ We win followers. Sometimes commenting and responding to comments creates links between authors. The more followers we have the better, and if they are committed, the better.

All right, now that we know some reasons we have to respond, let's see how we can do it.

How to respond to a comment?

💬 Don't be monosyllabic even, not even trisyllabic. A "thank you" or "thank you for commenting", leave a bad taste in the mouth, especially if the person who commented your post was inspired and took the time to do it.
💬 Thank you sincerely. Leave your egotism aside and receive with gratitude the words that are left to you. If they are flowers, stop, smell them and let the author of the comment will know that you loved receiving them. If, on the other hand, he left some bile, thank him for his opinion with respect.
💬 Encourage the creation of a good conversation. I have seen many comment boxes with discussions or simple exchange of information that has enriched me more the main post itself. We invite you, then, not to issue a closed answer. If you consider it pertinent, stimulate with your response to another answer. Perhaps what is generated there will be useful for those involved and for those who read them in the future.
💬 Be creative. GIFs are a good strategy. A few days ago the author @traciyork issued a response that showed a lot of creativity, education and detail. Her native language is English and she writes in Spanish. I invite you to see her response here. Needless to say, whoever received that response followed her without hesitation and she returned the follow-up. One more relationship was born. Do you see what they mean when they talk about making community?
💬 A vote is an answer. Regardless of the value of our vote, sometimes voting for a comment left on our post is valid as an answer. It tells us that the author liked and valued our comment. What would be exemplary to add a response? Yes, but if you do not have time to respond and you have sufficient resources of credits and percentage of voting power, leave your "like", but write down your user to then visit him and comment on some of his posts. (NOTE: if you are new do not go around handing out "likes" to how many comments they leave you. Use your RC (Resource Credits) well.

Of course, there are many more reasons and ways to respond to a comment. The ones we have presented to you in this article are recommendations, not mandates. We are far from wanting to set standards for commenting. We only suggest (except for some criteria we have for voting comments with our account), but even with those criteria you can do what you want and still receive a vote from us, because we are not inflexible and value comments more than a specific pattern, for the content and value they add to a post. Our criteria serve as guidelines, as do our suggestions.

We would love to read you in the comment box and hear from you what other reason you have for responding to the comments you leave on your post and how you do it. Remember, what you write here will add value to Hive and may come out in a future @elcomentador post. So stand out.
