Hello, I'm Dicmer Rivas I'm 26 years old, I studied electrical engineering, which is something that I am deeply passionate about; learning about science, knowing how the world works through mathematics and logic to create something so useful for the world and people. For a long time I believed that this would be my vocation, but unfortunately, due to the twists and turns of living in Venezuela, riots and protests began to occur, which made it impossible for me to continue in this career.
Hola, soy Dicmer Rivas tengo 26 años, curse la carrera de ingeniería eléctrica, lo cual es algo que me apasiona profundamente; aprender sobre las ciencias, saber cómo funciona el mundo a través de las matemáticas y la lógica para lograr crear algo tan útil para el mundo y las personas. Por mucho tiempo creí que esta sería mi vocación, pero lamentablemente por las vueltas que te da vivir en Venezuela, empezaron a ocurrir disturbios y protestas que me imposibilitaron continuar en dicha carrera
As a result of this, I found myself in the need to get a part-time job, and that's how I ended up living with my cousin who is a music video editor and was the one who encouraged me to work in a film school and inevitably instruct me in the art of audiovisuals. Which is quite funny to me, since in engineering school we often used to make fun of those who were dedicated to the arts, especially those whose profession was taking pictures and making videos. But life often throws irony in your face....
A raíz de esto, me vi en la necesidad de conseguir un empleo de medio tiempo, y así fue como termine viviendo con mi primo que es editor de videoclips y fue el quien me animo a trabajar en una escuela de cine e inevitablemente instruirme en el arte de los audiovisuales. Lo cual es bastante gracioso para mí, ya que en la facultad de ingeniería con frecuencia solíamos reírnos de aquellos a los que se dedicaban a las artes, sobre todo de aquellos que tenían como profesión tomar fotos y realizar videos. Pero con frecuencia la vida suele darte golpes de ironía…
I entered the academy with a lot of disbelief and with the simple idea of doing my work as an employee of the institution, but contrary to what I thought, I ended up falling in love little by little with this medium and finding a new passion. Needless to say that when I entered this institution my perception changed completely, and if I had to summarize my path in this world is a single sentence I would say: "most of us are born with the ability to see the world, but when you begin to understand photography, that's where you really learn to observe what surrounds you".
Entré a la academia con bastante incredulidad y con la idea simple de realizar mis labores como empleado de la institución, pero contrario a lo que yo pensaba, termine por enamorarme poco a poco de este medio y encontrando una nueva pasión. Está de más decir que al entrar en esta institución me percepción cambio completamente, y es que si tuviera que resumir mi camino en este mundillo es una sola frase diría que: “la mayoría de nosotros nacemos con la capacidad de ver el mundo, pero cuando comienzas a entender la fotografía, es allí donde realmente aprendes a observar lo que te rodea”
I am currently working in an audiovisual company called arte y efectos, and I have a degree in art and cinematographic sciences. I collaborate with teams that make audiovisual projects such as short films, commercials and video clips, but most of my time is dedicated to being a freelance photographer. At a commercial level I specialize in fashion photography and portraits that are made in studios, but to a great extent I love street photography, as well as landscape and animal photography.
Actualmente estoy trabajando en una empresa de audiovisuales llamada arte y efectos, y soy egresado en arte y ciencias cinematográficas. Me dedico a colaborar en equipos que realizan proyectos audiovisuales como cortometrajes, comerciales y videoclips, pero la mayor parte de mi tiempo me dedico a ser fotógrafo independiente. A nivel comercial me especializo en fotografía de moda y retratos que se realizan en estudios, pero en gran medida me encanta la fotografía de calle, al igual la fotografia de paisajes y animales.
That is why through this space I will try to make a deep approach of who I am and an intimate glimpse of what I am passionate about.
Es por ello que a través de este espacio tratare de realizar un acercamiento profundo de quien soy y un vistazo íntimo de lo que me apasiona.
