Walking along an old town

Laufenburg is situated in Aargau, Switzerland south of the Rhine River.
1802 Napoleon ceded the Fricktal to the Helvetic Republic, called Canton Fricktal. However, as early as 1803 the Fricktal was assigned to the newly founded Canton of Aargau and with the Rhine, formed the national border to Germany.

The view over the town and the Rhine is great, and it is also worth climbing. The tower measures about 8.40 metres square and is supported by 3 metres thick walls.
