Life Hack | Part 4 | Ways To Look Smarter In Video Calls.

Dear Hive Community

Making a good impression in video conferencing is much more difficult than face-to-face interviews. How can you show your real personality in a video conference?

You may like to use Skype. But most likely, Skype is not responding to your love.

A story published in the Wall Street Journal does not contain any hearty news for those who apply for video conferencing to cut the days spent on the trip, work from more than one place and enable their employees to do business remotely. It is much more difficult to appear “friendly” in video conferencing than it is face to face. According to the research published in Management Science magazine and mentioned in the Wall Street Journal, job candidates interviewing through video conferencing are getting lower than normal as a result of friendliness and interview, so they are much less likely to be recruited compared to a face-to-face interviewer. Is happening.

According to the research, the people who watched the speaker in the video conference said, “They are more affected by the speakers' thoughts.”Being friendly and talented are two facts that are constantly facing each other. The more friendly someone is, the more likely we are to think that person is weak. This causes us to think that person's talents are not enough. When we first see someone as gifted, we don't trust that person too much, and we even begin to see it as a threat. When we are asked to choose between a talented but friendly person and a talented but not loved person, we mostly choose the person who is friendly.
Recent research shows that linking and then guiding is the best strategy. In other words, first of all, make sure that people like you, trust you, and feel comfortable with you. But after that, show your skills and get their minds.

Now, in your quest to be a friendlier person,

let's look at some of the errors that are likely to clog your way:

1. Don't Banish Yourself from Tightening Yourself and Showing Your Emotions

Apparently some people pretend to be on television or on stage, in video conferences. They are excited and start to bore themselves. But often video conferences are not equivalent to such big events. There will probably be a few people in the room and you will know most of them. So relax.

2. Avoid Exaggeration

This is another extreme, and it is about excitement like the error we mentioned in the first article. Over excitement will sometime cause you loss the job. Because the other person will not like your behavior. He will though you are very casual person which will not fit for the job.

3. Avoid clowning.

Video conferencing is already difficult enough, as you cannot notice the fine details in video conferencing, as in face-to-face conversations. On top of that, making jokes can make you even more difficult because you can't measure the reactions of the people in the room. So don't try this.
So what can you do instead?

4. Face to Face Eye Contact by Looking at the Camera

This can be a difficult thing to accomplish, because in face-to-face meetings no one stays into the eyes of the other person during the interview. In video conferencing, it is better to speak directly to the camera.

5. Smile Naturally as You Speak

Consider getting into a good mood before the video conference, considering something completely irrelevant if necessary. Force yourself to physically smile. Smiling causes your brain to be stimulating and enables the “happiness centers” in our brain to act.

6. Change Your Tone

It may not be an easy task to do this without exaggeration, but keep in mind that other people pay attention only to your face and voice without any other resources.
It is difficult to find the line between cheerful and frustrating, but with a little practice you can easily overcome it. You can measure your success in this matter by pretending to speak with a customer on the camera and then mute this conversation from the beginning.

7. Be Aware of the Feelings of People Opposing You

If one of the speakers reacts remarkably to something you say, ask him what he thinks about it. Show some curiosity about what he says, thinks and feels. You're not making a carefully rehearsed presentation, so don't skip these opportunities. No matter what medium you are in, being truly interested in your face will always make you look more gracious.

This are some of the tips will helps you in any video conferencing and you will come out in flying colors.
