Practising my new tools (Pentel Brush Pen + Technical Pens + Acrylic Pens)

I recently bought some new tools for Inking and drawing, I wanted to show here few bits I started to do with them, nothing fancy, just some practise really!

I wanted to give a massive shout out to @yangyanje for having me introduced to Inktober and the beautiful art of Inking! I immediately went to spend some money on amazon to buy some cool tools to start practising!

I always loved drawing and art since young, I did some Graffiti for a period of my life and as you can probably see from my Graffiti Letter Contest I still have the passion and like to sketch every now and then! I actually started the Contest as a way to motivate myself (and others) to draw more and get back to the roots of who I really am! Society does a good job of pumping our egos and not letting our true self be! Creating art and drawing helps me to reconnect with who I am and who I wanted to be before Life fucked me up for good!

Tools that I bought:

I am going to buy very soon a Mechanical Pencil and a Guide on How to Draw Dragons and I will get busy drawing dragons, the same dragons that beat my ass on Elden Ring...I now killed a few but still got a lot left...The game is massive...

Have a look at this beautiful Pentel Pocket Brush Pen!

And here a quick look at the book I bough to get started with some basics:

What did I do with these magic tools?!?!

  • First I received the Fineliner Pens and I got busy just trying the different sizes and getting comfortable using them, I always liked technical pens and gel pens since young so I did not have too much of an issue here, have a look at me just trying the sizes:

On an amazon package lol

  • The next day the wonderful Pentel Brush arrived and I took it with me to work to try it out in some chill moments!
It is a very difficult tool to use but it's beautiful, if you can master this tool you can have an all-in-one tool, you can do super thin lines with it as well as super thick lines, everything is in the practice, practice, practice, practice!

  • Then my Acrylic Pens arrived and I got myself lost on personalising the new Card my partner received to make it look a big more colourful ehehe

For this one I sketched quickly the lettering on pencil, used the technical pens to do the outlines and then the acrylic pens to colour the letters, the details you see on the word CARD have been done with a very fine pen (0.03 I think)

  • The following day I brought all the tools with me to work, I knew I was about to have a very dead day so I got creative and actually did my Graffiti for my Contest #16 with the word RESET, you can participate here, still time to Sunday night to get your participation in!

Real sketch done on my Sketchbook

I did not have the balls to go with the pens on the original sketch so I did 3 photocopies and worked on those, you can see on the original sketch how I was trying to get the outline thicker with the pencil ready for the pen outline! Once I finished the pencil outlines I did the 3 copies and continued to work on those!

This is my desk as I was working on it, you can see I did the outline of this 2 times, all with the Pentel Brush Pen for the outlines and a technical pen 0.5 or 0.4 for the 3d lines and the effects (which will be visible on the pictures I will show later in the post!)

And this was my lettering completed! I was very satisfied with the look of the lines knowing that this was my very first time using a Brush Pen to do something like this!

  • The following day I was off and I spent some time of the day to finish my lettering, I wanted to give some effects and I had a creative moment and used a pencil to quickly draw the lines and then the same technical pen used for the 3d lines to make the effects, this was the result, I love it!

Then I finally proceeded to colour the Lettering, using some not too great colours that I have at home, I will have to buy some better coloured pens for this stuff!

And here a picture of the finished works with all the tools I used to make it possible:

I'm sure you can all see that extra green tool ehehe that's where most of my creativity comes from LOL 🤣

  • And to finish this quick sketchbook sessions in a nice way here is some extra stuff I did using the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen.
I always loved Skulls and I'd love to become good at drawing them!

20220409_221941.jpg

This one was a quick freestyle, I used the pen tool to do some thin-thick-thin lines (the eyes) and from there my mind just flew aways, I gave the eyes a pair of eyebrows and then just went wild LOL
YOU DIED inspired by Elden Ring, that's the thing I see the most on that game...LOL

Then I just tried to copy a drawing of a Behelit (Berserk)

20220407_162401.jpg

This one's a bit shit lol, I need to learn how to properly colour with the brush to make it look nice!

  • Then I got sick of pens and ink and I just went old school trying to draw a skull with a pencil on paper:

Meh... not good, not bad... I haven't been drawing at all in the last 10 years... you can definitely see it here! Time to get back to the roots!

Thanks for Reading and Watching!

Bless you!

Peace!
