Se trata de un post dedicado a las mascotas que nos gustaría tener, pero edición especial: Mascotas exóticas!
This is a post dedicated to the pets we would like to have, but special edition: Exotic pets!
El tema puso a volar mi imaginación y creatividad, por lo que decidí no sólo buscar las imágenes de referencia, sino además elaborar un autorretrato ilustrado de cómo me vería yo junto a cada una de mis mascotas exóticas.
The topic sparked my imagination and creativity, so I decided not only to look for reference images, but also to create an illustrated self-portrait of what I would look like with each of my exotic pets.

La chica que ven en esa foto soy yo, acariciando un burrito en el pueblo de Macaira, en el llano venezolano.
The girl you see in that picture is me, petting a donkey in the rural town of Macaira, in the Venezuelan plains.
Me gustan muchísimo todos los animales. La lista de mascotas poco comunes que quiero tener es larguísima: una gallina, una vaca, un cerdito, un hurón, una liebre, un morrocoy, un lince, una ardilla, una iguana... y sigue!
I love all animals very much. The list of rare pets I want to have is very very long: a chicken, a cow, a piglet, a ferret, a hare, a red-footed tortoise, a lynx, a squirrel, an iguana... and so on!
Aún así, para este post, decidí escoger específicamente entre mis opciones más más exóticas, más raras y quizás un poco espeluznantes, porque según mi criterio, todos los animalitos merecen amor.
Still, for this post, I decided to choose specifically among my more exotic, weirder and maybe a little creepy options, because in my opinion, all animals deserve love.
Por supuesto, siempre respetando que la relación sea voluntaria, sin jaulas ni cadenas! Soy partidaria de que si una mascota se queda conmigo es porque así lo quiere, porque se siente amada y protegida ❤️
Of course, always respecting that the relationship is voluntary, without cages or chains! I am in favor of keeping only those pets that stay on their own, because they feel loved and protected. ❤️

Escogí esta mascota porque me encantan los arácnidos, y este es un arácnido con mi color favorito: azul!
I chose this pet because I love arachnids, and this is an arachnid with my favorite color: blue!
De paso, me da cierto sentimiento nacionalista esta mascota, porque es originaria de mi país, específicamente de la península de Paraguaná.
Besides, this pet gives me a certain sense of nationalism, because it is originally from my country, specifically from the Paraguaná peninsula.
Lamentablemente está en peligro de extinción, así que realmente no la sacaría de su hábitat para tenerla de mascota. Será un deseo sin cumplir por los momentos 💔
Unfortunately it is endangered, so I wouldn't really take it out of the wild to keep it as a pet. It will be an unfulfilled wish for the moment 💔
Le puse de nombre "Maná" porque así se llaman las pociones de magia en los juegos RPG, y por lo general tienen un color azul muy similar.
I named it "Mana" because that's how magic potions are called in RPG games, and they usually have a very similar blue color.

Lo que más me gusta de las serpientes es que tienen buena memoria, así que realmente pueden agarrarte cariño, aprender conductas, y convivir contigo de una manera muy similar a un perro o un gato.
What I like most about snakes is that they have a good memory, so they can really get attached to you, learn behaviors, and live with you in a very similar way to a dog or cat.
Lo más complicado de tener una pitón de mascota son sus hábitos alimenticios. Les gusta cazar su comida, así que en este caso me tocaría conseguir ratas, murciélagos, pollitos u otras criaturas pequeñas para que ella se encargue del resto.
The most complicated thing about having a pet python is her eating habits. They like to hunt for their food, so in this case I would have to get rats, bats, little chickens or other small creatures for her to take care of the rest.
Me da un poco de tristeza tener que sacrificar otros animales para mi Nagini, pero yo también como pollo y carne, así que no tengo mucha moral para reclamarle al respecto...
It makes me a little sad to have to sacrifice other animals for my Nagini, but I eat chicken and beef too, so I don't have much moral to complain to her about it...
Le puse Nagini en honor a la serpiente de Voldemort.
I named her Nagini after Voldemort's snake.

Los cuervos me fascinan por su elevada inteligencia.
Ravens fascinate me because of their high intelligence.
Pueden contar hasta 6, aprender palabras y repetirlas, crear un lenguaje de graznidos especialmente para ti, y son muy detallistas cuando están enamorados: siempre encuentran algo brillante o colorido qué traerte de sus viajes.
They can count to 6, learn words and repeat them, create a squawking language especially for you, and are very detail-oriented when in love: they always find something bright or colorful to bring you back from their travels.
Todos saben que son carroñeros, pero lo cierto es que comen muchas otras cosas: carne, verduras, insectos, espaguettis... Nombra alguna comida y probablemente el cuervo quiera comerla. Pero eso sí, les gusta la variedad! No comen lo mismo dos días seguidos.
Everyone knows they are scavengers, but the truth is that they eat many other things: meat, vegetables, insects, spaghetti.... Name a food and the raven will probably want to eat it. But they do like variety! They don't eat the same thing two days in a row.
No está permitido tener cuervos en cautiverio, así que Onix pasea en libertad, pero siempre vuelve, en especial cuando huele que ando preparando pollo frito.
It is not allowed to keep ravens in captivity, so Onix flies free, but he always comes back, especially when he smells that I am cooking fried chicken.
Le puse Onix como la piedra preciosa que es igual de negrita y brillante.
I named it Onyx like the gemstone which is just as black and shiny.
