What's up my people how are you? I hope you are excellent and as always I welcome you once again to my artistic blog, this time I am here to show you a work that I decided to create to commemorate what would be so iconic and popular date of the year as it is the night of Halloween; I must say that this drawing was planned to publish it on Monday or the day of Halloween itself, but due to work and time issues I could not finish it on time so I preferred to give way to a couple of drawings that I had ready while I finished this one. The truth I had clear the basic concept of the drawing, but what I didn't know very well is what I was going to capture on the canvas, the truth is that I'm a big fan of the gory themes as Halloween movies are by far my favorite as for example that iconic saga that has as title the same name of the holiday, or also the nights of the witches; I ended up choosing to illustrate a character that would be a sensual woman who carries on her shoulders a gloomy Halloween pumpkin, this woman would be a kind of bloody and ruthless murderer who has just perpetrated something terrible during the darkest night of the year:
Que pasa mi gente como están? Espero que excelente y como siempre les doy la bienvenida una vez mas a mi blog artístico, en esta oportunidad me encuentro por aquí para mostrarles una obra que decidí crear para conmemorar un poco lo que sería esa fecha tan icónica y popular del año como lo es la noche de Halloween; debo decir que este dibujo estaba planificado para publicarlo el día lunes o sino el propio día de Halloween, pero bueno por cuestiones de trabajo y tiempo no pude terminarlo a tiempo así que preferí darle paso a un par de dibujos que ya tenia listos mientas culminaba totalmente este. La verdad tenia claro el concepto básico del dibujo, pero lo que no sabia muy bien es lo que iba a plasmar en el lienzo, la verdad soy muy fan de las temáticas sangrientas ya que las películas de Halloween son por mucho de mis favoritas como por ejemplo aquella icónica saga que lleva como titulo el mismo nombre de la festividad, o también la noches de las brujas; en fin termine decantándome por ilustrar un personaje que se trataría una sensual mujer la cual lleva sobre sus hombros una tétrica calabaza de Halloween, esta mujer se trataría de una especie de asesina sangrienta y despiadada la cual acaba de perpetrar algo terrible durante la noche más oscura del año:
I created a basic structure of the character as if she was sitting on a kind of terrace wall or roof, I drew the body of the girl with a rather sensual appearance, but instead of her head I decided to create a big Halloween pumpkin with a rather sinister smiling expression; something that occurred to me almost at the last moment of finishing the sketch was to create a big and sharp knife that would give a little more that essence of horror movie like the ones that happen for these dates, I tried several forms of knives until finally I opted to paint a kitchen knife very much in the style of the Chucky movies. For the base of the skin I used a slightly saturated orange tone to achieve a little contrast with the colors that I planned to use later for the clothes for example, I worked a little on the soft shadows of the bust, hands and thighs, and then the lights; I spent a long time blurring and mixing the strokes so that the skin would take a softness and delicacy common in female characters, and then I only had to define a couple of shadows of occlusion in areas where the ambient light does not reach and also where the clothes cover the skin and there is not much light.
Cree una estructura básica del personaje como si estuviese sentada en una especie de muro de terraza o tejado, dibuje el cuerpo de la chica con una apariencia bastante sensual, pero en lugar de su cabeza decidí crear una gran calabaza de Halloween con una expresión sonriente bastante siniestra; algo que se me ocurrió casi a lo ultimo de terminar el boceto fue lo de crear un gran y filoso cuchillo que diera un poco más esa esencia de película de terror como las que pasan para estas fechas, probé varias formas de cuchillos hasta que finalmente opte por pintar un cuchillo de cocina muy al estilo de las películas de Chucky. Para la base de la piel use un tono naranja levemente saturado para lograr un poco de contraste con los colores que planeaba usar mas adelante para la ropa por ejemplo, trabaje un poco lo que serian las sombras suaves del busto, manos y muslos, y luego las luces; estuve durante un buen rato difuminando y mezclando los trazos para que la piel tomase una suavidad y delicadeza común en personajes femeninos, ya luego solo tuve que definir un par de sombras de oclusión en zonas donde no llega la luz del ambiente y también donde la ropa cubre la piel y tampoco llega mucha luz.
For the outfit of my character I focused on creating something quite sensual, something like a Morticia Addams outfit, for this I first created a reddish brown mesh fabric which would cover the legs and so the character besides looking sensual would also look very elegant, to these meshes I gave a slight blur to soften them a little and then I added a small pattern of red flowers at very low opacity; then for the top I created a dress with long sleeves and that covered up to the thighs of my character, I worked the texture of the dress to make it look as similar as possible to a very very fine silk fabric and shiny appearance. For the Halloween pumpkin on the head of the character I worked a little more, the first thing was to create a base of an orange tone much more saturated than the skin, and then with the help of my watercolor brush I was creating what would be the rough and curved relief that pumpkins normally have, basically I was giving the pumpkin a wavy shape until it looked a little more solid and realistic; once the pumpkin was well finished I continued with what would be the expression of the happy face, here what I did was to work with the darker orange tones to create a little depth and thus give a good feeling that the pumpkin was cut to shape the smile.
Para el atuendo de mi personaje me enfoque en crear algo bastante sensual, algo así como un atuendo de Morticia Addams, para esto primero cree una tela de malla de color marrón rojizo las cuales cubrirían las piernas y así el personaje además de verse sensual también se vería muy elegante, a estas mallas les di un leve difuminado para suavizarlas un poco y luego le añadí un pequeño patrón de flores rojas a muy baja opacidad; luego para la parte de arriba cree un vestido de mangas largas y que cubriese hasta los muslos de mi personaje, trabaje la textura del vestido para que se viera lo más parecida posible a una tela de seda muy muy fina y de apariencia brillante. Para la calabaza de Halloween en la cabeza del personaje trabaje un poco más, lo primero fue crear un base de un tono naranja bastante mas saturado que el de la piel, y luego con ayuda de mi pincel de acuarela fui creando lo que sería el relieve rugosa y curvo que normalmente tienen las calabazas, básicamente fui dando la forma ondulada a la calabaza hasta que se viera un poco mas solida y realista; ya una vez que la calabaza estaba bien terminada continúe con lo que sería la expresión de rostro felicidad, aquí lo que hice fue trabajar con los tonos naranjas mas oscuros para crear un poco de profundidad y así dar una buena sensación de que la calabaza fue cortada para dar forma a la sonrisa.
The painting of the knife was done in several sections, first I dedicated myself to paint the entire blade of the knife, for this I used a range of soft blue tones and I was graduating the color wheel to the darkest shades of gray and white gray, the intention with this was that first the knife looked very very solid and then be able to add the corresponding brightness to give a better sense of edge on the blade; Once the edge was finished the next thing was to work a little on the painting of the handle or hilt, being a wooden knife what I did was to use mostly dark brown tones and mix a little with a little crimson color to achieve a more realistic wood look. Finally came the most interesting part of my drawing and it was the creation of the blood, here what I wanted was to transmit in a subtle way that the character has just executed some victims with his knife and therefore the blade of this and his face are covered with dried blood; almost at the end I came up with the idea of giving a touch more dark to my character and what I did was to illuminate his eyes and smile from the inside of the pumpkin, this to make it seem that inside the pumpkin inhabits an energy or ghost entity, I used many shades of green and applied a couple of effects (bright and shine) and that's how I gave that cool touch to my work.
El pintado del cuchillo lo realice en varias secciones, primero me dedique a pintar toda la hoja del cuchillo, para esto use una gama de tonos azules suaves y fui graduando la rueda de colores hacia los matices más grises oscuros y grises blancos, la intensión con esto era que primero el cuchillo se viese muy muy sólido y ya después poder ir agregando los brillos correspondientes para dar una mejor sensación de filo en la hoja; ya con el filo terminado lo siguiente fue trabajar un poco en el pintado de la cacha o empuñadura, al tratarse de un cuchillo de madera lo que hice fue usar tonos marrones oscuros en su mayoría e ir mezclando un poco con un poco de color carmesí para lograr una apariencia de madera mas realista. Finalmente llegue la parte más interesante de mi dibujo y fue la de la creación de la sangre, aquí lo que quería era transmitir de manera un poco sutil que el personaje acaba de ejecutar a algunas víctimas con su cuchillo y por ello la hoja de este y su rostro se encuentran cubierta de sangre ya seca; ya casi al final se me ocurrió la idea de darle un toque un tanto mas tétrico a mi personaje y lo que hice fue iluminar sus ojos y sonrisa desde la parte interna de la calabaza, esto para que pareciera que dentro de la calabaza habita una energía o entidad fantasmas, use muchos tonos verdes y aplique un par de efectos de (bright y shine) y así fue como le di ese toque cool a mi obra.
