My Life in Palette: We Belong Among the Flowers 🌼

"She's a free and gentle flower, growing wild." ~ Skylark

Hello Hivers! These days, I haven't been able to travel often and I admit that a part of me is itching for it. And if you have noticed it, most of my travels were with my dear sister. May it be those trips I get to travel with my friends or our company outing/team building, I always bring her with me. I always make sure to create beautiful memories with her by traveling as much as we could that will linger in her memories as she grows older.

We have a seventeen-year age gap because she was a menopausal baby that's why being an older sister to her means so much to me, and I am being grateful for it.

And since the wanderlust-soul within me is for a moment, in a deep slumber, the art-enthusiast being inside me is taking charge. Instead of backpacks and maps, I have here with me an easel, palette, paintbrushes, and colors. And yes, painting to me is giving me an explainable delight as much as traveling has been giving me. For me, it is not just simply creating an image. It is a token of "who I am" or "what I am feeling" during the process of painting. This is me, a colorful glimpse of my very soul - for whoever is interested to take a look.

This time, I want to share with you this colorful painting which is a picture of me and my sister. This image is inspired by Cinnamon Cooney, a great artist I have always looked up to ever since I get myself back into art way back in 2018.

"Sisters are different flowers from the same garden." ~ Anonymous 🌸🏡🌼

These two girls running into the garden of flowers have me finding myself excited to pick up my paintbrushes and paint. Now let me share a few pictures I have taken of how it was done.

The work in progress...

I started to make the background which is made of the green field and a colorful sky.

And then I added the highlight to the background.

With the use of chalk, I started to draw the layout of the two girls. I am not good at making images of a human so I had to rely on the grid method so I could make the girls, if not perfect, at least look better.

And then I started to highlight the details (skin, dress, and hair) of one of the girls.

And with the other girl also.

And then I added highlight to the green field the girls are running into.

And finally, I added the flowers. Now it looks like the girls are running cheerfully while holding hands in the fields of flowers.

While painting this, I was thinking of my sister. This is us. And the colorful surrounding is our optimistic hearts that as long as we have each other, there will always be brighter skies, more beautiful blooms of flowers, and stronger knees to run free and wild into all the wonders this life has to offer.
