"THE STAR XVII- Tarot Card, Major Arcana"
I created this cut paper art and digitally colored it. This is the tarot card, Major Arcana called "THE STAR XVII ." I created "THE HERMIT IX" before. Yes, it's fun to make a tarot card cut paper art version! Original tarot cards are usually European-looking pictures. However, I wanted to create an oriental-looking design. I was inspired by the celestial maiden figure for this artwork. Actually, this maiden figure is also Orihime (The Weaver Girl). Orihime is the Japanese name for the star Vega. Additionally, Vega has a very deep meaning to me because of my name. That's why I decided to use an Orihime-looking design for "THE STAR XVII."
I love Japanese folk tales or fairy tales. Actually, I should say Asian folk tales or fairy tales. We have many common beautiful stories in Asia including Asian Indigenous cultures. Furthermore, all ancient stories have some kind of connection with the stars. I can't stop dreaming about the stars' stories almost all the time. There are many theories about our nature which are reflections of the stars and space as a Mandala. I definitely accept those theories. The earth and the space connection is very deep and interesting! Fairy tales and Folk tales were my life textbooks when I was young. I still read them more than other stories.
Description
A naked woman kneels by the water; one foot is in the water and one foot is on the land. Above her head is one large star, representing her core essences, and seven smaller stars, representing the chakras. In each hand she holds a jug. From one jug she pours a liquid into the water. From the other jug she pours a liquid onto the land.
- THE STAR.--Loss, theft, privation, abandonment; another reading says--hope bright prospects, Reversed: Arrogance, haughtiness, impotence.
In my artwork, the lady has Japanese-looking dippers in each of her hands instead of holding jugs. Also, she is floating in space so, one of her feet is in the river, the other foot is in space. She is not naked, she is wearing the celestial robe of an angel.
"星 十七 ・タロットカード、大アルカナ”
切り絵を作りデジタルで色づけしました。タロットカード、大アルカナの”星 十七番”です。前回は”隠者 九番”のカードの絵柄を作りました。切り絵のタロットカードデザインは面白いです！本来のタロットカードの絵柄は西洋風のデザインが主流ですが、わたしはアジア風のタロットカードのデザインを作っています。天女織姫をイメージして作りました。織姫は星座のこと座（ベガ）に関連していますし、自分の名前も関係しているので、”星 十七番”のタロットカードは織姫にしようと思いました。
わたしは日本の民話やお伽話が好きです。アジアの民話やお伽話というべきですね。アジアには先住民の話も含め、共通する美しい話がたくさんあります。古代の話は星と繋がりのある話が多いです。星の話に思いを馳せると、きりがありません。地球の自然は宇宙と星が反射している曼荼羅との説がたくさんあります。その説をすんなり受け入れることができます。地球と星の関係は深くて面白いです。小さい頃のお伽話と民話は人生の教科書みたいな存在でした。今でも他の話よりもお伽話や民話を読む率が多いです。
カードの意味と解釈
正位置の意味
希望、ひらめき、願いが叶う、絶望からの再生。
逆位置の意味
失望、絶望、無気力、高望み、見損ない。
アーサー・エドワード・ウェイトのタロット図解における解説では「希望と明るい見通し・瞑想・霊感・放棄」を意味するとされる。
天空にひときわ大きな星とその周りを囲む7つの小さな星が、地上には水と大地に壺から液体を注いでいる女性が描かれている。女性は二つの壺から液体を注いでいる。
この切り絵の織姫は壺ではなく和風の柄杓で水を注いでいます。彼女の片足は川に、もう片方は大地ではなく宇宙に足を置いています。そして、裸体ではなく天女の衣を身にまとっています。
