Hello dear friends, I hope you are very well, today I want to show you a new drawing, this time on a black cardboard as a background, it is about the late Kurt Cobain, singer of Nirvana, the most famous alternative rock band of the 90s. It was a very important band in my life since I liked their depressive and violent music a lot. I made this drawing using three different types of white pencil to achieve a better effect, I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero mostrarles un nuevo dibujo, esta vez en una cartulina negra como fondo, se trata del fallecido Kurt Cobain, cantante de Nirvana, la banda de rock alternativo más famosa de los años 90. Esta fue una banda muy importante en mi vida ya que su música depresiva y violenta me gustó mucho. Este dibujo lo hice utilizando tres tipos diferentes de lápiz blanco para lograr un mejor efecto, espero que les guste.
To make the drawing I chose an image from the MTV Unplugged concert, a beautiful concert where the songs could be heard in acoustic version and where he did a cover of David Bowie's song - The Man who sold the world, a performance that immortalized that song forever. In this photo he is looking down where I think it reflects sadness. I made a sketch of the entire face with white prismacolor wax but as always, using it gently.
Para hacer el dibujo escogí una imagen del concierto Unplugged de MTV, un hermoso concierto donde se pudo escuchar las canciones en versión acústica y donde hizo un cover de la canción de David Bowie - The Man who sold the world, una representación que inmortalizó esa canción para siempre. En esta foto el sale mirando hacia abajo donde creo que refleja tristeza. Hice un boceto de todo el rostro con color blanco de cera prismacolor pero como siempre, utilizándolo suavemente.
To fill in the inside of the face and give it volume I used a different color, a white charcoal color, this color can be applied and blended very easily even with the fingers or a soft brush. I started with the part of the forehead and went down the face downwards, this color is very versatile but it stains the cardboard easily so you have to apply it very carefully. You can apply two coats of color, that's more than enough to achieve an intense white color.
Para rellenar el interior del rostro y darle volumen utilicé un color diferente, un color blanco tipo carboncillo, este color puede aplicarse y difuminarse muy facil hasta con los dedos o un suave pincel. Comencé con la parte de la frente y así fui descendiendo por el rostro hacia abajo, este color es muy verstail pero mancha con facilidad la cartulina así que hay que aplicarlo con mucho cuidado. Puede aplicarse dos capas de color, con eso es más que suficiente para lograr un color blanco intenso.
And continuing with the face we continue applying the white charcoal color, but this time when we reach the middle of the face we will paint only the illuminated parts and the rest we will leave unpainted so that the contrast is greater between lights and shadows. For the chin we will put white wax color that is less intense and thus be able to make that light reflection effect.
Y siguiendo con el rostro seguimos aplicando el color blanco de carboncillo, pero esta vez al llegar a la mitad del rostro pintaremos solo las partes iluminadas y el resto lo dejaremos sin pintar para que el contraste sea mayor entre luces y sombras. Por la barbilla pondremos color blanco de cera que es menos intenso y así poder hacer ese efecto de reflejo de luz.
The next step is to make part of the clothes that can be seen in the image and also the neck, here we do the same procedure, for the parts with more light we use the most intense white, and for where there is darkness we use the color of wax. Then the turn is for the hair, for this the pastel white color is used, which due to its texture gives a more different stroke, very useful for lines that form part of the hair, as Kurt Cobain was blonde, in the black and white image the reflections of light are usually quite intense.
El paso siguiente es hacer parte de la ropa que logra apreciarse en la imagen y tambien el cuello, aquí hacemos el mismo procedimiento, para las partes con mas luz utilizamos el blanco más intenso, y para donde hay oscuridad utilizamos el color de cera. Luego el turno es del cabello, para esto se utiliza el color blanco pastel, que por su contextura da un trazo más diferente muy util para líneas que forman poarte del cabello, como Kurt Cobain era rubio, en la imagen en blanco y negro los reflejos de luz suelen ser bastante intensos.
To finish the drawing, with the help of a black wax color I begin to reinforce the dark parts, and better outline the visible eye, this part, although small, is very significant since it gives the image soul. In the same way in the hair I also use a little black color to give it more intensity and the photographic effect can be seen better.
Para finalizar el dibujo, con ayuda de un color negro de cera comienzo a reforzar las partes oscuras, y delineo mejor el ojo visible, esta parte aunque pequeña es muy significativa ya que le da el alma a la imagen. De la misma forma en el cabello tambien utilizo un poco el color negro para darle más intensidad y pueda verse mejor el efecto fotográfico.
This is how the drawing is finished, this illustration lasted exactly as long as the Nirvana album in Unplugged, almost an hour. The measurements are 20 centimeters on all sides, the cardboard used is black Fabriano paper, very good for these effects and the color adheres very well. Así ha quedado finalizado el dibujo, este ilustración duró exactamente lo que dura el disco de Nirvana en el Unplugged, casi una hora. Las medidas son 20 centímetros por todos los lados, la cartulina utilizada es papel Fabriano de color negro, muy bueno para estos efectos y que se adhiere muy bien el color.
