It is 9:56 AM Thursday March 18. I’m off from work today so I sat down to write the post about the drawing I finished last night.
Although, I probably won’t be able to post this until the evening because I need my English checked by my oldest daughter and my youngest daughter is home because it’s spring break. She is wondering what is for lunch but its only 11:00 AM. She also made a big mess painting the rocks which she collected from the beach. I’m NOT cleaning her mess but I’m very distracted here.
Anyways, I usually trim the date and the time of my screen shot of the drawing process but I thought it would be fun sometimes to give them a focus.
I must have started drawing this piece in the morning on Monday March 8th on the ferry on the way to work and took the screen shot before I drew more on it at 5:38 PM which is around the time the ferry leaves to go home.

今日は仕事がお休みなので昨夜仕上げたイラストの記事でも描こうと思うのですが、なかなか進みません。書き終えても長女ちゃんに英語チェックをお願いしないとですし、春休みなので次女ちゃんが家にいて１１時くらいからお昼はなに〜？と聞いてきます。何か始めたなと思ったらビーチで拾ってきた石に絵を描いていたのですが、うおっ！散らかしている〜〜〜...わ、私は片付けない。。。けど...集中できません😭
普段記事を書く時は、描いている過程のスクショの日付を編集で除くのですが、たまには付けたままでも良いかなと思い、今日は日付を追いながら記事を書くことにしました。このイラスト、３月８日の月曜日に描き始めたようです。多分、朝、通勤で使うフェリーで描き始めて、帰りのフェリーに乗ってさらに描き足す前にスクショを撮ったのだと思います。
I’m still learning grayscale by the way.
These are my sad looking rough sketches. If I can do this part better, be able to draw it closer to the look of finished drawing, I think I can speed up my drawing process.
I liked the look of the bow I drew but I struggled with the position of the body, especially the arms. I had the reference of Link (The Legend of Zelda) but it was not exactly what I imagined so I had to search for the bow and arrow posing on the internet. I also had my oldest daughter model for me as well.
まだまだグリザイユ画法を勉強中です。
こちらスケッチです。相変わらず悲しい見栄えのスケッチです。この部分をもう少し仕上がりに近い感じに描けたら、もう少し早く描き上がるのだと思います。
弓は上手く描けたのですが、身体の向き、特に腕の向きが決まらず苦労しました。モデルはゼルダの伝説のリンクなのですが、弓のポーズをネット検索して参考にしたり、長女ちゃんにもモデルをお願いして参考にしました。
I erased the body and decided to redraw it.
描けないので体を消して描き直しました。
I had lots of erasing, redrawing and tossing my iPad to the side between March 9th to March 12th. I almost got into an art block but finally it started to look like what I imagined.
３月９日から１２日まで、消したり描いたり、iPadをポイしたりが続きました。スランプになってしまうかと思いましたが、やっとイメージしていたように描けてきました。
Smoothing the rough sketch made the expression of character’s face very unnatural.
ザクザク描いたスケッチの線をブレンドしたら顔コワっ！笑
I changed the eyes so that it looked like he was aiming towards an object.
何かを狙っている目にしました。
I wasn’t 100% happy with the eyes and the nose but I was able to move on to work on other parts which was good.
目や鼻の位置もなかなか決まらなかったのですが、とりあえず先に進むことが出来ました。
Monday March 16th 5:54 PM on the ferry...added some shading to his shirt.
３月１６日、月曜日、５時５４分フェリーにて...シャツに影を入れました。
Here I added more details to his hair and also added the harness.
もう少し髪を描き込んで、ベルトも描きました。
I added more details, the background and blurred some areas and my grayscale drawing was completed. Although, now I’m obsessed with his lips. I couldn’t quite get it right but I’m going to leave it for now. I’ll probably fix it as I add colour later.
I’d have to take another class on Skillshare.com for the details of how to add colour to grayscale. I’ll let you know about it later.
更に描き込んでから背景、一部ぼかしを加えてグリザイユは出来上がりとしますが、唇の出来栄えが気になって仕方ありません。色を乗せる前に直そうと思います。
グリザイユ画法で描いたイラストに色を乗せるのには、レイヤーの設定を変えるなどコツがあるのですが、もう一つSkillshare.comのクラスを受けてから試してみようと思います。
