Hello, today I bring you this digital painting, in Pixelart. As you already know I'm a fan of this and for those who read my previous article about Puppet Combo (if not, here is the link: https://ecency.com/hive-140217/@carminasalazarte/puppet-combo-vhs-style-horror-videogames-engesp) you will know that it is one of my favorite figures when it comes to the horror genre. Since Halloween is coming up, I've decided to make this Pixelart in honor of the 1978 movie Halloween, starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Michael Myers is back! So let's get started.
The first thing I do before making any artwork is to select the subject, in this case it is to represent a scene from the movie Halloween, I have chosen the house where it all happens. Of course, as I said before, it is a representation of mine about it, so it is not exact to the original. I'm simply looking for a building that has that essence and resemblance to the homes of those years. That said, taking into account what I want to paint and how to do it, I begin to make the sketch.
¡Hola! El día de hoy les traigo esta pintura digital, en Pixelart. Como ya saben soy una fanática de este y para quienes leyeron mi anterior articulo acerca de Puppet Combo (sino, pues aquí está: https://ecency.com/hive-140217/@carminasalazarte/puppet-combo-vhs-style-horror-videogames-engesp) sabrán que es una de mis figuras de admiración al dedicarse al género de terror. Por estar cerca la fecha de Halloween, he dedicido realizar este Pixelart en honor a la película Halloween de 1978, protagonizada por Jamie Lee Curtis ¡Michael Myers está devuelta! Así que comencemos.
Lo primero que hago antes de realizar cualquier trabajo artístico es seleccionar el tema, en este caso se trata de representar un escenario de la película Halloween, yo he elegido la casa donde todo ocurre. Claro, como he dicho antes, es una representación mía sobre ello, por lo cual no es exacta a la original. Simplemente estoy buscando una edificación que tenga esa esencia y parecido a los hogares de por aquellos años. Dicho esto, teniendo en cuenta que quiero pintar y como hacerlo, empiezo a realizar el boceto.
This lace will help me to add elements to the painting that will be the pillars for everything else. I have chosen the color violet and shades of it because it will help me to achieve that night atmosphere I need. So we have a facade of the building, the front, part of the garage and a sky.
Then I am dividing the house, placing windows and door, some columns, the porch, etc. Normally there are those who would start first with the background (sky/garden), but I like to go first to the figure (house), because the application allows me to work between layers and there is no problem if later I decide to remove something. I say this because if I were working with acrylic or oil paint, I would not be able to do the same because it would alter the work. Now that I have my house, I will move on to other layers to go for the background.
Este encaje me ayudará a ir agregando elementos a la pintura que serán los pilares para todo lo demás. He elegido el color violeta y tonos de él porque me ayudará a lograr esa atmósfera nocturna que necesito. Tenemos entonces una fachada del edificio, el frente, parte del garaje y un cielo.
Luego voy dividiendo la casa, colocando ventanas y puerta, algunas columnas, el porche, etc. Normalmente hay quienes empezarían primero con el fondo (cielo/jardín), pero me gusta ir primero a la figura (casa), porque la aplicación me permite trabajar entre capas y no hay problema si más tarde decido retirar algo. Esto lo digo porque si estuviera trabajando con pintura acrílica u óleo, no podría hacer lo mismo ya que allí si alteraría el trabajo. Ahora que tengo mi casa, pasaré a otras capas para ir por el fondo.
Now I will define my background, which will have two trees, one on the left (exposed) and one on the right (hidden) and at the back of the house I will place a fence. Then I work on the second layer making the shadows that will leave the trees on the lawn, as you can see in the image.
Ahora voy a definir mi fondo, el cual tendrá dos árboles, uno a la izquierda (expuesto)y otro a la derecha (escondido) y al fondo de la casa colocare una cerca. Entonces trabajo no segunda capa realizando las sombras que dejarás los árboles sobre el césped, como pueden apreciar en la imagen.
Then, in another layer, I draw the trees, tracing what will be the trunk, the roots and the branches. I use the color purple, with a shade of black and some details in white tones of the same color.
Luego, en otra capa, dibujo a los árboles, trazo lo que será el tronco, las raíces y las ramas. Utilizo el color cioleta, con un tono de negro y algunos detalles en tonos blancos del mismo.
Once the trees are finished I will place the tops of the trees, partially covered by leaves of different shades of turquoise to add shadows and lights.
Terminado los árboles colocare las copas de los árboles, parcialmente cubiertos por hojas de distintos tonos de turquesa para añadir sombras y luces.
When I feel that I have put everything together, background, figure, color, composition, content and form, then I will add the missing details and some shadows that I need to make the painting look better.
Finally this is the result of the work. A house covered by a dim light, in the middle of the night and the company of pumpkins that serve as an allegory that night is October 31. It looks like a quiet scene, but surely Michael Myers must be roaming around with his mask, overalls and knife.
Cando siento que he armado todo, fondo, figura, color, composición, contenido y forma, entonces voy a añadir los detalles faltantes y alguna que otras sombras que necesite para que la pintura luzca mejor.
Finalmente este es el resultado del trabajo. Una casa cubierta por una tenue luz, en medio de la noche y la compañía de las calabazas que nos sirven de alegoría de que esa noche es 31 de Octubre. Parece una escena tranquila, pero se guramente Michael Myers a de estar rondando por allí con su máscara, overol y cuchillo.

I hope you liked it, because Halloween is a time that I like a lot, the esoteric has its magic, but what I really like is to enjoy a good marathon of horror movies, especially if they are the old ones. Something I really like about those movies is that atmosphere of peace and tranquility, where it seems that nothing happens and you can move to that place and feel in the shoes of the protagonists. Sincerely a pleasure that I do not change, the films have for me a special meaning. For painting purposes, I think I have achieved the goal, to represent a lonely and iconic home behind a good horror saga. Algo que me gusta mucho de esas películas es esa atmósfera de paz y tranquilidad, donde parece que nada ocurriera y puedes trasladarte a ese lugar y sentirte en los zapatos de los protagonistas.
