I have been participating in this contest from Last year and for my Entry this week I'm drawing another Underrated card called Electric eels .
Before I sketch it let's discuss the characteristics of this card a bit more .
It's like big strong ancient eels under water that glow in their electric light . Their eyes are black and they all have spikes around their tails and chin area . Also the character looked like old wrinkly evil hunched creatures so yeap I will keep that too in mind .
So I firstly opened some eel pictures in my phone and began drawing the poses in my style now I add the spikes more hunchback features and sketched out Lighting bolts that's my initial sketch.
Now I imported the sketch in a digital drawing app called medibang paint pro. I then used one of their default brush called pen sharp and drew the Lightening bolts . Next I traced the eels also I made it more flowy and hunched back added some humps like the card and more of that sinister evil grin to them . Basically my lineart was all done at this point.
Next I just used selection tool to select everything and filled it the flat colors . Lightning bolts were to be teal and eels were supposed to be a pale yellow . Before shading I added a gradient background with a dark blue transitioning into a more sea green . Just like a Under water scene .
After this I shaded my eels with A darker orange and a deep yellow for the inside. Of the mouths .I colored the spikes into a deep marroon shade and added some highlights on top.
Now I just colored the lineart into a deep orange or brown color and the teal bolts into same color I just merged the bolts and duplicated them set the second layer to add and guassian blurred it to give that glowy effect . I also added highlights to the eyes of the eels .
Now I added a saturated blue layer on top of everything. Set the opacity a bit low and imported my water mark .
Here is the final result.
Tbh I always learn so much after participating in these contest . That's all for today. Thank you for your precious time and support ❤️
