Starting road Work day 1

Road work again! We are further down the path, and are planning on 3 days of great weather, so I will have time to show you all some of the challenges that we are overcoming.

The two young men working with us brought a bunch of friends this time, many hands make light work as they say.

Water is the big enemy, and if it gets started on a channel in the center of the road it won't stop until it leaves the path untransitable.

The 'middle of the road' must also be 'the high road'.

Today it is unlikely that we will get to the really ugly parts. Like the water, we must start top-down, and correct the level imperfections on our way down. Here the climate is known as 'Very Wet Montane Forest', and it can literally rain at any moment, even of the sun is shining as well.

If we are able to take advantage of this relatively dry spell to fix this section, we can bring the Nissan up full of the immunized wood. Otherwise a mule team will have to drag up the wood, and I think they could damage it.

Of course all the updates will be posted here.

These young fellows usually work in 'what's available', carrying heavy things, or loading/unloading trucks, assistants in construction or even washing cars.

They are young and still eager to be of service to the world. Their formation is now in my hands, if only for a day or three, and I am really trying to be a better 'patron' each day, which is a more challenging job than I ever thought.
