Surely you have already read the last post of the Rincón fotográfico community, so going forward we will do a test from my account with these contests that we are designing to awaken the love for photography in all users, sometimes we see very beautiful photographs, but we never try to know what style or why the photograph was taken like that, so today I want to talk about Flat Lay photography, which is nothing more than taking the photograph from a zenithal position, that is, from top to bottom.
Seguramente ya leyeron el último post de la comunidad Rincón fotográfico, así que siguiendo adelante haremos una prueba desde mi cuenta con éstos concursos que estamos diseñando para despertar el amor por la fotografía en todos los usuarios, en ocasiones vemos fotografías muy hermosas, pero jamás intentamos saber qué estilo o porqué fue tomada la fotografía así, de ésta manera hoy quiero que hablemos sobre el Flat Lay photography, que no es otra cosa que tomar la fotografía desde una posición cenital, o sea, de arriba hacia abajo.
Of course you are probably used to see this type of photography in lighter colors, although within the dark food photography is also very used and looks very interesting, the advantage of this style of photography is that it eliminates distractions by the depth of field, leaving aside the selective focus and trying to keep everything in focus, that's why we must be careful with the height of our main elements because if one of them is too high or low, we will get it more blurred than we are looking for.
Claro que seguramente estas acostumbrado a ver éste tipo de fotografía en colores más claros, aunque dentro de la dark food photography también es muy usado y se ve muy interesante, la ventaja de éste estilo de fotografía es que elimina distracciones por la profundidad de campo, dejando de lado el enfoque selectivo y tratando de que todo esté bien enfocado, es por eso que debemos de tener cuidado con la altura de nuestros elementos principales ya que si uno de ellos esta demasiado arriba o abajo, nos saldrá más borroso de lo que buscamos.
Instead we seek to give life to the image through shadows and lighting, as well as correct handling of compositional rules such as the rule of thirds and creating harmony with the color palette of which we don't talk about yet but it is something natural in us to find the right combination of colors. Also this style is widely used in square photographs that suit to any kind of blog or Instagram.
En cambio buscamos dar vida a la imagen por medio de las sombras y la iluminación, además de correcto manejo de las reglas compositivas como la regla de los tercios y creando armonía con la paleta de colores de la cual aún no hablamos pero es algo natural en nosotros encontrar la combinación correcta de colores. Además este estilo es muy usado en fotografías cuadradas que se adaptan a cualquier tipo de blog o Instagram.
Normally we think that professional photographs are made in studio and with artificial lighting, and I'm not going to lie, but it can also be done with natural light, the only difference is the exposure time to get the lighting we want in the image, for example the last image was made with natural light which is noticeable in the definition of the spines of the cactus, I didn't want to use the tripod since many don't have it and the exposure time was short.
Normalmente pensamos que las fotografías profesionales son hechas en estudio y con iluminación artificial, y no voy a mentir también se hace así, pero también se puede hacer con luz natural, la única diferencia es el tiempo de exposición para conseguir la iluminación que deseamos en la imagen, por ejemplo la imagen pasada fue hecha con luz natural lo cual se nota en la definición de las espinas del cactus, no quería usar el trípode ya que muchos no lo tienen y el tiempo de exposición fue corto.
These last two images should be left out because of the composition, here we have the opposite direction of the wooden spoon and the small watering can, instead in the first image by moving the position of the watering can we create movement in the middle of the photograph as if the cactus was pointing to the spoon, the spoon to the watering can, and the watering can to the cactus, in this way the viewer should follow the small instructions that we are leaving to read the photograph.
Estas dos ultimas imágenes debería de dejarlas fuera por lo que les comento de la composición, aquí tenemos contraria la dirección de la cuchara de madera y la pequeña regadera, en cambio en la primer imagen al mover la posición de la regadera creamos movimiento en medio de la fotografía como si el cactus apuntara a la cuchara, la cuchara a la regadera, y la regadera al cactus, de ese modo el espectador debería de seguir las pequeñas instrucciones que le vamos dejando para leer la fotografía.
Another advantage of this style is that you don't need expensive equipment to take pictures, what you need is creativity and lighting, you can get the lighting by putting your scene next to a window or a door where there is enough light, I would recommend doing it at noon, unless you want to include the direct rays of the sun but then we are talking about something more designed, the camera of the mobile phones by being very angular in their vision allow us to include everything in our scene, the previous picture was taken with the cell phone.
Otra de las ventajas de éste estilo es que no necesitas un equipo carísimo para hacer fotografías, lo que necesitas es creatividad e iluminación, la iluminación la puedes conseguir poniendo tu escena a un lado de la ventana o una puerta por donde entre suficiente luz, te recomendaría hacerlo a medio día, a menos que lo que quieras incluir sean los rayos directos del sol pero ahí ya comenzamos a hablar de algo más diseñado, la cámara de los celulares al ser muy angulares en su visión nos permiten incluir todo en nuestra escena, la fotografía anterior fue hecha con el celular.
You don't need to pay for heavy programs for your computer, just use the native application of your cell phone to edit the images, I haven't seen a single phone that doesn't have this editor, so nothing stops you from taking these pictures for your posts or jobs that you get, we all have the dream of making a living from photography, but for that you have to work hard on the way.
Tampoco necesitas pagar por programas pesados para tu computadora, basta con usar la aplicación nativa de tu celular para editar las imágenes, no he visto un solo teléfono que no tenga ese editor, así que nada te detiene de hacer éstas fotografías para tus post o trabajos que vayas consiguiendo, todos tenemos el sueño de vivir de la fotografía, pero para eso hay que trabajar mucho en el camino.
