Newest Wonder Woman McFarlane Action Figure

This is the newest Wonder Woman McFarlane figure that collectors have been waiting for for years: a classic look of the famous character.

"Classic" does not strictly define it, since the term can mean differently to different people. This version, however, surely has many of the elements that fans agree a classic Wonder Woman should have, such as the star-spangled blue bikini without the warrior skirt that is sported by the most modern versions of the character, including that worn by Gal Gadot.

In addition, it can be argued that classic Wonder Woman's only weapon is the golden lasso of truth, and that swords, axes, and shields are not included in her classic arsenal. Younger fans will probably not agree, since they first saw their generation's Wonder Woman using them.

This figure has been so hard to find, and despite years of clamor by fans all over the action figure collecting community worldwide, the distribution and quantity of this figure has been quite scarce. This author's country has not been even able to acquire ANY copies of this sought-upon collectible. Colelctors had to order it directly from the McFarlane Store or other foreign supplier and had to do it as fast as possible. No local supplier has them. You're lucky if you can even order, because stocks almost immediately have been sold out.

For this purpose, despite the exorbitant shipping costs involved, two copies of this were warranted. Thankfully, the set arrived without significant incident, and delivered quickly. Kudos to McFarlane Toys for that. No thanks to the international courier for the extra processing charges that should not have been included.

The features of this version are very well appreciated. The face sculpt is decent, the bright red torso pops out, the golden logo is beautifully rendered, and the lasso this time is not made of plastic, unlike past WW figures. The lasso looks beautiful, although its holder does not grip it well and it gets removed easily. The other weapons look a bit on the cheap side, but are not a dealbreaker.

The feet are a downside, but one can't nitpick too much at this point. At least a classic version of the character has been issued.

All in all, this collectible has been a long time coming, and this author for one is glad it has finally arrived.

Even Starro the Conqueror is pleased.
