You need to take care of yourself, and it is absolutely necessary for a happy life. It is easy to get so lost in the stresses of work and your relationships or day-to-day routine that we often overlook ourselves. With so much to keep us busy, it is easy for our own needs and desires to take a back seat. Though the reality is that if we do not care for ourselves, how soon will it be before our blessing has no way to give its full hand?

You are allowed to take a break and stay away from the madding stuff of some hostile action that brings light back into your life.

Downtime, whether you are doing it by curling up with a good book or going for a walk in nature (or, obviously, indulging in one of your hobbies), is not just a luxury, it is a necessity. They restore your energy, declutter the noise out of our minds and bring peace as well as clarity, which we forget on a daily basis.

It is not selfish, either. In fact, it is one of the most adult things you could do and not only that, but it is also a very responsible thing for yourself and others. By taking care of yourself and cultivating a state of well-being within yourself, you create the space to face life in all its challenges with grace and resilience. You grow more patient, kinder, and more present with the people who matter most to you.

Allow yourself to take it. You deserve it. Pausing to breathe in this world that constantly tempts us with one or more things, be it keeping the job or finishing that last cup of coffee before our shift because someone needs help, is an act of self-love. Embrace it. Put it first and see how it will make a radical difference in every area of your life. You are worth it.
