Lets Talk about the Latest Patch Notes

postpreview.png

Today I bring you the latest May Patch Notes in Gods Unchained shown in an illustrative example. Talking in advance we will see lots of anubian counters and attempt to make war great again, also some nerfs to current strong cards.

Lets take a closer look into changes.

Nature

Dagan, the Dawn Wolf — after this little nerf of damage Dagan is still a very strong card and now it has regen 2 that gives you more synergy with Trail of the Hydra.

Barksworn Hunter — the main change is that now this amazon doesn't go face (as well as its echo). I feel this change leave the card pretty much playable, it's like more mana expensive Underbrush Boar now.

Sword Breaker Sage — don't think this nerf worth it, because you could remove 4 durability for 4 mana with Nefarious Briar as well as with Sword Breaker Sage + echo. Now both of them removes only 1 durability from your opponent's relic which is still good enough.

Death

Curse of Greed — still playable, but now your Heirlooms become more expensive for you to get.

Reach into the Black — this card won't give you extra Heirlooms anymore, which kinda strong nerf for it, especially for those decks that used The Quorum of Pharaohs Past.

Wretched Vanguard — finally this little anubian doesn't have frontline which caused decent amount of damage in your face because of Priestess of Takhat. But honestly I think that you will still trade this 1/1 body in most cases.

Light

Eucos in Eclipse — this change isn't a change itself, but I was waiting for it since the beginning of Mortal Judgement. Now this card just work properly as intended.

Thaeric Extortionist — I see this nerf like the way to equate the card to Light's Levy. Now they have same stats, for 3 mana you kill creature with 2 strong and get 2/2 worth body/ies.

Prophet of Doom — haven't seen this card in any decks yet, but I think you will see it more often when Control Meta (esp. Board Wipe Death and Control Magic). The card looks decent.

Ecclesiastic Encourager — it now has 1 less durability, but still this card is pretty strong and definitely will find its place in Light decks.

War

This god had the most amount of cards that were changed. Most of this changes are connected to lower mana cost or increasing of creature stats. Among this cards we'll see:

  • Mobilized
  • Unrestrained Power
  • Valka's Foreguard
  • Skollkin Valkyrie
  • Lykaios Postulant

But lets take a closer look at some other War's card changes.

Over-Honed Spear — now this relic can obliterate a creature and that means it won't go to the void which might be pretty harsh for decks that are using the void (e.g. BWD or Anubians).

Ironborne Disruptor — this card now completely destroy the opponents relic which is OP I think. With this 3 mana boy you'll get rid of Pallas' Wand, Neferu's Khopesh and other relics that can increase its durability). Strong buff.

Lupine Fanatic — I feel like this stats change make this card good for synergy with Out of its Misery + Carnage Sweep at the same time (because its afterlife will remove wards from the opponent's creatures). Honestly I like this change.

Savage Strike — now this spell is more like Auric Rush AOE, but it can also destroy a creture with 3 hp. You will see it in most of the War decks in the future.

Shieldmaiden Scout — haven't seen this card in action, but I feel that its new effect might be questionable agains Control Decks with big creatures (imagine taking out Helian Elite or Poly on turn 5 😅), but it could also be good against aggro decks. We will see soon if this change worth it or not.

Raider Captain — this card now gives you an opportunity to make good trades, but it's kinda expensive and at least you need 6 mana to make benefit from it. Still qustionable.

Deception

Deception got nerfed only 1 card which was pretty strong and fast enough in the meaning of face damage.

Ludian Thespian — now this card and its echo give less strength, but I think it is still strong enough.

Magic

Surpassing Blast — this card was almost completely destroyed. Now it can deal damage only to creatures. Which makes Ancient Texts great again. I feel this pain deep in my heart.

Alastrina, Prime Refractor - now they've divided mana cost of spells and creatures in your hand that can be reduced by Alastrina, strong nerf. It makes Dralamar wombo-combo almost impossible to come on turn 5,5 or 6. But if slow meta come back we will see it again.

Reject Dogma — I think that this change doesn't make much difference, but having an option to obliterate a creature instead of spell is definitely better.

The Academy of Mystic Arts — now it has frontline which can be better for Magic insteat of backline, but still this card is 6 mana. In Aggro meta sometimes is hard to be alive on turn 6, but hard Anubians nerfs creates space for this card in Magic decks, we'll see.

Pyre Shaper — this mana cost change make this card closer to Faraday Cage which can be very useful against Aggro decks.

Neutral

Gleamweaver — this card just say bye-bye to anubians and other void-dependent decks.

Brink Watcher — one more void removal option for you.

Remnis, Unscrupulous Gatemage — now this card has frontline, but still questionable. Approved by casino lovers.

Sneaky Bruiser — changed stats makes this creature more playable, may be we'll see it in Hidden Deception decks (since its Guild) and possible in combo War decks, but not sure in the last.

Conclusion

I appreciate if you went through all list and came here. To draw a conclusion for this patch, I think 2 messages is enough:

  • Anubians got nerfed
  • Make war great again

Looking forward to see what this weekend's meta will look like.
